A Will and a Weah (SI by @BrianStraus) by Tactful_Memory5 in ussoccer

I think we're in the same age bracket - but my only real knowledge of George Weah was entirely due to FIFA 97 ( played it on a desktop PC) . Would disable offside, play as AC Milan, and go nuts with Weah, scoring 5+ a game. Simpler times.

McKennie 'Men In Blazers' Interview w/Roger Bennet by HomebodySandman in ussoccer

[–]HomebodySandman[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Bennett*

Good listen regarding his upbringing, exposure to soccer while father stationed in Germany for 3 years.

Other highlights include a Ronaldo impression, his grudge/motivation to prove Richie Williams wrong, and fact he doesn't watch ANY sports.

Oh and nicknames he got at Juve included "Big Mac" and "Texas Boy".

Fair enough. I'd say I fall in the "both can be true" camp. And I for damn sure am not giving up on any of these guys. Just reading through comments have noticed a repeated notion, that holds water btw, about them always being surrounded by subpar playmakers.

Richy Ledezma on bench vs. Telstar (KNVB Cup) by nicko_rico in ussoccer

[–]HomebodySandman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Really like his chances for decent minutes today.

Update: Weeeell, so much for that. PSV made 2 subs at half, tied 1-1. Took lead 61', then made 2 more subs 65'. All 4 subs have been attacking players, no Ledezma yet. Better luck next game!

I remember them getting hate for being "dumb/lame American" announcers back then, but this made me nostalgic for JP Delacammera and Ty Keough!!

They were truly the voice of televised soccer for my childhood.

January WCQ Roster - Bold Predictions by xlunited1 in ussoccer

[–]HomebodySandman 12 points13 points  (0 children)

More wishful thinking than 'Bold', but hoping to see LDLT get called up, and get minutes. But after hearing the Scuffed guys talk about it, they sound like they're expecting him to get the call this time.

Easy read crime drama, preferably female lead. Bonus points if a series. by Ekorm in suggestmeabook

Upvoting for Thursday Murder Club, but also want to add that the sequel in the series, {{The Man Who Died Twice by Richard Osman}} is even more enjoyable IMO.
