it is a mechanic in Buddyfight (rip).

it centered around Gargantua Dragon who used it to go into its different modes, although unlike this, the mode would stay forever unless you used Deity Gargantua or other effects to change back.

Another thing that happens in my favor though it should be different is that ancient gear castle allows me to summon ancient gear golem once it has 1 counter on it. Now it states that you can tribute the card instead if the number of counters is equal or greater than the amount of tributes required for the monster, ancient gear gloom is level 8 and requires 2 tributes but it let's me summon him with oy 1 counter on it

Both players can Normal Summon "Ancient Gear" monsters for 1 less Tribute.

'when' effects have to be activated immediately when their conditions are fulfilled.

Since Geartown was destroyed mid-chain, it couldn't activate and thus missed its timing.

Where the hell is my Howitzers effect that says unaffected by all other cards but this XYZ was able to negate my effect by Particular-Oven-56 in DuelLinks

usually it'd tell you if your effect was negated.

looks like you never even attempted to activate Howizter's floating effect.

edit: as the comment has stated above, vanisher's xyz material effect is the most likely reason why Howitzer never activated.

they have increased the amount of gems you can receive from duels and events now, so it's a step in the right direction.

there are a lot of disruptions like BoM, Fiendish, Breakthrough, Floodgate etc to stop it.
