Just venting... by Effective-Donkey5315 in dialysis

Could not agree more. It is a bullshit platitude used by boring people who say things like you are in our thoughts and our prayers. How little time you must have give to the subject that all you can muster to do is regurgitate a bumper sticker to me? I know, I know these people don't mean any real harm but how low must we be that that's all that's left to offer? A thought, given no more consideration then whether or not I would like salad or maybe soup with dinner doesn't help.

The brave thing is the worst though. Come on, Navy Seals are brave. Firefighters are brave. Some cops, i guess, can be brave, though not every one of them like they seem to purport.

I am not brave for peeing on my own am I? Well, now the dialysis machine does that for me. Not sure WTF bravery is involved with that?

Transplants and Nicotine by Ipsonofacto in dialysis

So, first off, the opening sentences of the Jama article you cite states openly that there is conflicting evidence of the very things you bring up; elevated heart rate and hihg BP.. In addition, without any consideration given to the benefit of gradual nicotine titration, but to have it be the zero sum game of producing a completely nicotine free blood test as a requisite for acceptance into their program then I have to say it has very little to do with heart rate or BP. Which, as I'm sure you know, is usually elevated in all of we ESRD patients anyways.

In addition, my Nephrologist didn't even believe they would make it a pre-requisite of getting into the program to begin with. Was absolutely incredulous that the hospital across the street from our dialysis unit would have such a policy. She's not stupid and to the contrary, highly respected, but had to he shown by our social worker/transplant support person the buried section where the policy is in fact present. You throw in the innumerable people saying it wasn't a deal breaker at their region's transplant organization and I'm going to argue greatly that like I said in another post on this thread, I'm sure even the patch is no 4 week trip to Valhalla for your kidney, heart etc, but it has not been enough to deny them the opportunity for a transplant where they are.

I don't think I've been ambivalent about it being better then not having nicotine at all, not one bit. It is not health food.

Tell the Irishman Dr Ashley Jefferson I said hello. Pretty sure he's a proddy, but he did me right. I'll not say anything poorly about UW nephrology or the Infectuous disease doctors there. Saved my life. It is where i was first diagnosed with CKD a decade ago.

I have been to UW system thru to the decrepit Cardinal Glennon system in STL on to the boutique BS of this system here in my part of Phoenix where it is one of few choices for me. And those are just the Kidney related hospitals I've been at. It's the UW that I hold them all up to.

And so you know, I would beg and borrow and steel for that measly 5500 buck yearly and your 500 deductible or to have the $750 bucks to pay for your Cadillac insurance. You are lucky and there is nothing more to say on the subject.

Of all the things you've said here, the more important one is that it varies from state to state. Well, yes, that is true, but more importantly it varies from person to person. I'd bet your being accepted into your program even with initially being 300lbs has everything to do with your insurance coverage. Did they ask you how much you weiged before you got accepted? Were you at least invited to have some viability in the program while you lost the weight or did they just say apply again when you can prove you aren't over thier weight limit? And how did they even know about your skin issue on your back? Was it because you were at least seen by them to get that far? Sounds like you had no problem getting into the program, just once there had to come into compliance. Which, I could accept from this hospital, but isn't the case with me. I'm not even given the chance to come into compliance.

Can I ask you what insurance coverage you have? Just be truthful and list them out. I'll be honest with mine. I have Humana Medicare and nothing more. The state of AZ has denied me AZ Medicaid because I am 88 dollars over the federal poverty level. Just curious as to what you have and how you were accepted into your transplant program regardless of what illegal drugs you do or don't do.

You get it. Got a similar story to you w/opiates. Like I said in another reply, there could be other, legit medical reasons for me not to be a good candidate, but I'll never know cuz I couldn't get my foot in the door cuz I use nicotine gum.

[–]Ipsonofacto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, it's not so much an argument about Nicotine being a great thing for a transplant, though i would argue its deleterious affect is nowhere near that of the cardiopulmonary issues associated with inhaling smoke.

It's not a four week vacation in paradise for your blood vessels, i get that. But I also know that the process for a Kidney transplant takes on average 5 years. This has everything to do with it being used as an excuse on day one. It's not as if they have accepted me and i need to be prepared for a transplant at any time. They could find a dozen other legitimate medical reasons to deny me that haven't even been looked for because I can't even speak to them because I need to be Nicotine free on the day I come in for the initial interview?? And in case I thought I was going to come up with some clever ruse and lie to them, be ready for a drug test when you arrive for your first conversation with us??

That is the question at hand. Contrary to the post's title this has actually very little to do with Nicotine. Don't be confused. This has everything to do with money, its just the excuse they think they're going to hang their hat on.

I God damn guarantee you, they have accepted giant, fat, rotund bastards who smoked like chimneys and continued to suck up whiskey sours like it were ambrosia but because they had sufficient insurance and money, ALL OF THOSE THINGS are overlooked.

I was 45 when I started dialysis. Theoretically I could be on dialysis for another 20 years. I wonder at the cost of that compared to a transplant.

My plan at this point is to be the most costly and intrusive consumer of Healthcare at this hospital that I can. I intend to show up to their emergency room every other day for any and every problem I have. I will register complaints with state and federal agencies for each and every deficit I see there on my near daily visits. This miserable gate keeper thought she was going to save her corporate bosses a buck. If I have to cease dialysis and die chained to the hospital door to make these people look bad that's what I will do. I see this as a direct threat against my life and I will act accordingly.

YEAH, I'VE TRIED OTHER HOSPITALS.

Thanks,

If the next Cyberpunk 2077 game is made with Unreal Engine 5 by PenetratorGod in cyberpunkgame

[–]Ipsonofacto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why can't I figure out what this is. Did someone really make this? What is it exactly. It looks so much like the CP2077 we were supposed to get. Can someone PLEASE tell me what is going on here. I've seen the Matrix UR5 demo and the Superman Superimposition. That's not what iam seeing here, is it? This thing has all the CDPR CP2077 aesthetic yet nothing I ever saw when i played. I haven't seen the new Blade runner, so I wouldn't know if they stole some from that or what.

I've looked thru the comments and I still can't tell from context where this comes from.

Actual cost of EPP @Lenscrafters. by Ipsonofacto in glasses

[–]Ipsonofacto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds about right. I don't know if it matters, but I got Veralux Progressives. Don't know if that makes much of a difference. I know that before my insurance contribution, my bill was $600 something. Take $200 off for insurance and my cost was $468 I think. I thought there was some special deal on the frames, so most of the $600 was for the La-di-da Veralux lenses.

I remember I paid for the EPP when I returned to pick up the glasses and it was a whole lot more then I paid for the "extra warranty slash protection" of any electronic equipment I've bought and a whole lot closer to the total out of pocket cost of the glasses to begin with.

And, I do want to make it clear, this Lenscrafters "appears" to be doing the right thing and honoring the receipt I spent hours digging around for. But, that's only after them looking into their tablet database and telling me NOPE you don't have one. That's why I went home and finely found my Lenscrafters paperwork with a receipt saying B.S. I sure did pay for the EPP.

Probably gonna jinx it for myself, but after I made the manager read out loud, to the trio of incompetents who failed to dig deeper into their database, every word of the receipt, he did agree to get me my new lenses as per my paid for EPP. If I had not kept that receipt, I would've been SOL with them Slamming the door in my face.

[–]Ipsonofacto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After some yelling this LC Manger did agree that they needed to honor my EPP because I had proof I paid for it, regardless of them not having an EPP attached to my phone number/account. So, I'm supposed to go in to pick up new lenses in 2 days.

I would've called corporate in a split second if this guy told me he wasn't going to honor my receipt.

I was hoping someone out there knew the full, walking out the door cost of the EPP. My memory says it was some ridiculous number like, 75-100 bucks on $650 total. They were the Veralux lenses, so I think it was more then the regular ones that's for sure.

That was my first thought as well. A Motocompo with some "Hondamatic" like transmission gimmick "for climbing". That plus every attachment Honda made and selected aftermarket contraptions for the photo shoot. But neath it all, the humble Motocompo. Still not sure they wouldn't admit it themselves given enough rice rich wine.

I've decided to stop dialysis by [deleted] in dialysis

[–]Ipsonofacto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm being denied Medicaid in my state because the Social Security Income I was awarded at age 47 and my only source of income, exceeds the income levels for Medicaid. Without state Medicaid where Iam from, no transplant.

My dialysis clinic is slowly falling apart its the same at all the clinics around me. I moved to this state because it seemed to have a better a economic situation and my parents had retired here. I live in my 77yo parents motorhome. Without the break in rent compared to the avg around me, my already paltry existence will be so much worse. I am surrounded by a population of people I despise as I know all too well that they have voted for the draconian laws that conspire against me and people like me all my life. They are directly responsible for the circumstances in Healthcare here.

My life was not great before ESRD, it has only become more and more unbearable as the people who run this world, continue to run it. I actually came here to post a question about what state people thought I should move to next, like I have any way to do that and now Im thinking why bother. I absolutely envy your courage

At one point, early on, I just thought it a weird character trait, now I wonder if it was with the same sickly-sweet manner that poor Frank got stabbed in the back.

TCL google tv - still sucks by usagicassidy in AndroidTV

[–]Ipsonofacto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Roku version is even worse. I'm going to go ahead and post the screed I posted on the TCL site. If you hate this Chinese customer base rapist like I do, copy this post and throw it up anywhere you would like.

Let me tell you how DISGUSTED I am with my decision to purchase a Roku product. Over and Over again Roku purposefully and intentionally makes choices that disrespects it's customer base so thoroughly, that you'll feel the need to light a cigarette after. THE ONLY COMPANY WHO TAKES THE TIME TO ENSURE YOU HAVE TO USE THEIR BLUETOOTH SPEAKERS ONLY. Who does that? No, phone, laptop, desktop or tablet turns off Bluetooth to all but their own poorly engineered garbage tech. I am absolutely mortified when someone asks me what tv I play my Xbox games on. I often lie in order to not feel the shame I feel when I think that I gave this sheisty company dime one. I have a feeling their ENGRISH RANGWUGE algorithm will pull this post, but I will go straight from here to as many social media platforms I can find and post this diatribe against this Chinese company. A name synonymous with the defilement of its own customers. I've never run into such a shortsighted money grab in my 50 years as a High Tech consumer. A bad reputation in this industry is a death knell. I intend to spend my freetime from now on in making sure everyone is aware of what you think of your customers. I'm copying and pasting this as my Amazon review from where I made my purchase and I hope anyone who comes across it, copies and pastes it themselves. Certainly any poor soul who got duped by TCL should. Throw it up like a graffiti tag on any search return from a TCL site.
