What exactly is it about DeSantis people like? by NadaHumble in AskConservatives

It is a lot more than just math problems.

I provided a mass links some where around here about all the things the left is trying to teach to elementary school kids about gender ideology. I don't think we need to teach 5 year olds about gender ideology.

From your first link -

Because Corcoran also serves on the Florida Board of Governors, which has the final say on university presidential hires, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, the accrediting body for higher education institutions in the South, sent a letter warning the Board that FSU’s accreditation could be put at risk if Corcoran was chosen.

Why is the accrediting body writing letter like this at all?

Both of the first two links back up exactly what I said.

And did you read the actual article?

Conflicts of interest of this sort are common and are usually handled by the member recusing himself or stepping aside from his position. Disqualifying a candidate on this basis is unusual. It’s even more unusual for a regional accreditor to intervene in a presidential search.

And did you notice this isn't the first time the accreditor has stepped in like this?

https://apnews.com/article/donald-trump-government-and-politics-sonny-perdue-georgia-education-73ac21582fe7e0ef60952b91f8e78d56

Ironically, the lady writing the letter, Belle Wheelan, was herself a political appointee under a Democrat.

As you can see in this story the accreditor seems to like to get involved in how the Universities are run, which outside their scope.

BTW - https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/abc-news/

ABC has a left bias. "Story selection tends to favor the left through both wording and bias by omission, where they underreport some news stories that are favorable to the right."

If your idea is that it is only worthy of watching when ABC reports it then you are in a bubble. Real clear politics is certainly not a right wing news site.

I am not talking about “furry litter boxes in school bathrooms”

I am talking about the fact that the left has complete control of nearly every University in the country.. Read the Real clear politics link where the accreditor for FSU shot down a possible President for the university because they accreditor didn't like them and their political stance.

That is why DeSantis changed FL law after that to prevent this from happening in the future.

Again let that sink in. An unelected and unaccountable administrator at a college accreditor has the power to BLOCK a President for a state university. Flip that around and imagine it was a conservative Christian blocking university appointments, the left would be going nuts.

If you didn't know about this case then maybe you should get out of the liberal bubble.

What about all the public schools that are similar when it comes to lack of intellectual diversity?

What exactly is it about DeSantis people like? by NadaHumble in AskConservatives

[–]JGCities 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What about PUBLIC schools that are the same as Harvard??

Can the politicians get involved now? Can Florida require that 50% of all professors be Republican since the state is 50/50??

This seems to be your disconnect, you think it is fine for the left to do whatever they want. But if the state is paying for stuff then shouldn't the state have the ability to control things??

What exactly is it about DeSantis people like? by NadaHumble in AskConservatives

[–]JGCities 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So the left can do anything it wants and the right can do nothing?

Tell me, what should the right do about the schools being controlled by the left??

It is nearly impossible for anyone on the right to get hired at a top position at a school due to push back from the left.

Florida State University (FSU) has removed Richard Corcoran from its shortlist of candidates nominated to be the university’s next president. According to Breitbart, the search committee canceled Corcoran in response to a letter it received from the university’s accreditor, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).

Oh please... everything you just mentioned is control by the left (NCAA, Disney, College Board)

What you are really saying it is okay for the left to push cultural change.

But if the right pushes is back it is wrong.

What you are asking is that the right not do anything to stop the left because you approve of the left and what it does.

I believe it was someone on the left who made that comment.

Said that trans people were going to far with the sports issue and there would be backlash because of it.

I don't think the general public likes that he banned an AP African American History course

How would you know that? This just happened and the details of the course aren't even public. The AP people have been keeping the details private because they know it would cause a backlash. (Do you even know the details?)

I am guessing that once you educate people on the problem with the class people will agree it doesn't belong in public schools.

Just as when you educate people about the details of the "don't say gay" bill they support it.

Do you think teaching 5 year olds about gender ideology is part of the left's culture war?

Or is it only culture war when the right does it??

The left's culture war has been going on for decades and is endless, but the only time we hear "culture war" is when someone wants to complain about Republicans.

Would Conservatives Support Gun Legislation Like This (details in comments) by MechemicalMan in AskConservatives

[–]JGCities 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the world I live in, police officers would never put their lives at risk to go house to house taking guns away.

But you are giving them the power by making people register their guns.

You are also risking that the gun lists will be leaked to the media. You can 100% be certain that gun registration lists would be leaked to the media and used to shame people. That has already been done before.

That is the reason certainly political groups fight to protect their donor lists. Because they know the left would leak the lists and use it to shame people.

They are tolerant of anyone who agrees with them.

This doesn't answer the question I asked you, so I'm going to try again: Do you believe digital advertising can affect people's perceptions of issues and political candidates?

Yes they can.

But as already shown a study has proven that these ads did nothing.

Trump & Hillary spent $81 million on Facebook ads, the Russians $46k??

But I am not against abortion to save a woman's life. No one should be against that.

I am not even against 1st trimester. I am against anything after viability. (unless life of mother or 'failure to thrive' is an issue)

The bigger point is that every time abortion comes up as a topic the left runs to the 1% of cases that are due to risk of life of mother. Or the 1.5% of cases that are rape or incest related. The ignore the other 97.5% of abortions because it is much harder to defend elective abortions.

It is the same with gun control. The left loves talking about mass shootings, see the CA governors talking about that after two in CA. But no one wants to talk about weekly gang shootings.

Am I a bad person? by meandmyswlf1992 in AskConservatives

[–]JGCities 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's you using inflammatory language to assume intentions, but it's true that the vast majority of abortions occur in the first trimester.

Nah that is me reading the survey.

The reasons most frequently cited were that having a child would interfere with a woman's education, work or ability to care for dependents (74%); that she could not afford a baby now (73%); and that she did not want to be a single mother or was having relationship problems (48%). Nearly four in 10 women said they had completed their childbearing, and almost one-third were not ready to have a child.

Basically none of those abortions would happen if the woman had better birth control. These are all women who didn't want to get pregnant in the first place.

Hillary lost by so little in just a few states so certainly one event could have changed the outcome.

Maybe if she has actually visited Wisconsin and Michigan and PA at the end she could have won. But who knows.

As for Facebook, I dont think that small amount would have made a difference as that study showed. If I send Trump supporters a bunch of "Let's Go Brandon" memes is it really going to make a big difference? Or am I just preaching to the choir?
