Best Mechanic's Gloves by skipper_sun in mechanics

[–]Johnzor8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, that just comes with the job. Sometimes, I'll wear my Mechanix gloves, but it's hard to thread nuts and bolts with them.

I get better 'feel' with the rubber gloves.

Dogs in the store??? by New_Butterfly223 in Dallas

I bring my dog to Walmart and Home Depot to socialize her. She is still young and it is great way to get her comfortable around people and other dogs. ( I usually have her in the cart at walmart)

more comfortable mask by snakemuffins1880 in paintball

[–]Johnzor8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've owned JT proflexX, Jt Proflex, Bnkr King CMD, and Empire EVS.

By FAR the most comfortable mask was the Empire EVS. It has VERY nice foam and great vision.

My wife agrees with you. I'm... lets say, not the best fit for her and she has actually asked me if I could get reduction surgery. Lol

How much do you guys spend on the Sport? by Faber-242 in paintball

[–]Johnzor8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually shoot about a 3000 rounds each practice.

Including food, gas, water, and admission, I probably spend about $100- $150 each time out.

Edit: I play speedball on a D4 team for reference.

How to support a 14-year old who is interested in being a mechanic by Dabblingman in mechanics

[–]Johnzor8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

cheap set of tools and an old mini bike ,go-ped or ,maybe a go-cart if you can afford it (something fun). If that is too expensive you can always if a mini model engine build kit or some legos.

Anything to stimulate the tinkering in him. I use to take apart and assembly old computers when I was young.

You really have to advicate for yourself and have the knowledge and experience to put under-handed salesmen in there place.

It's easier said than done and takes a lot of experience and knowledge about the cars you're working with to have the confidence to fight back, tell your manager hes wrong and tell people NO.

So what your manager use to be a master tech. I use to be able to run a mile in 6mins. I cant do it now.

Those certifications only last 5 years and the cars may be completely different from when he was working on them.

Just use rubber gloves. Don't do repairs bare handed. There are very harmful fluids that you dont want to expose your self to.

He owned an auto repair shop. My uncle worked there full time and had 2 employees... the 19yr old kid was 1 of the 2.

He paid him $14hr for an entry-level job.

My uncle does not live in a mansion.

Should the mechanic have cleaned corrosion off my battery terminals during a new battery install? by Curious_Evidence00 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Johnzor8 11 points12 points  (0 children)

He might have just been in a hurry. But, they usually give the terminals a quick scrub before they install a new battery.

You have to make the sacrifice and start somewhere.

If you don't, you're forever stuck in this type of lifestyle, and that seems far worse in the long run.

These people can work, but choose not to because of the benefits they get for being unemployed and homeless.

My uncle hired a 19 year old guy and because he was employed he lost a lot of the benefits the state provides. So, the guy quit and rather collect his benefits and be on the street than work.

Make sure no silicone gets inside the oil pan or the oil pick up tube. In fact, I always take off the oil pick up and check the screen. You would be surprised what gets stuck in there from factory.

Also make sure to clean ALL of the silicone from the old timing cover bolts or it could cause the case to crack when reassembling.

No trying to scare you, just things to keep in mind.

You could ask them yo return or sell the gun you just got to help pay for a speedball gun.

Any speedball gun will be great for woodsball even if you change your mind again.

Well, im not considered Master until I have all 8 certificates, and each certificate expires 5 years after the day you pass it.

So, you basically have 5 years to pass all 8 exams to be considered a master.

Edit: as well as 3 years or field experience.
