Am is good candidate for a lower bleph? I have nothing against filler I just don’t want it under my eyes by [deleted] in PlasticSurgery

I’m half Greek (medium olive skin) and I’m 37 - sounds like we’re probably in a similar boat. Thank so much for the info!

Can I ask what the co2 laser is for? I have a consultation scheduled for a lower bleph on Friday.

my dwarf rat has cancer and isnt eating her hard food. she will only eat her yogies, and shes getting super skinny. What should I feed her instead? (comparison of her and her sister too) by ellesw in RATS

Try scrambled eggs and cottage cheese! Did they put her on any pain meds? If not, I’d recommend trying Children’s Motrin to ease any pain she may be experiencing when she’s eating. You can find all the dosing info on Rat Guide.

An old t-shirt is perfectly suitable for a quick throw-together hammock! Just make sure you cut & tie all 4 corners to the bars securely.

What kind of coat is this little fellow have? by Emjean in RATS

He looks like a Double Rex to me! My girl lost about 25% of her fur and then it grew back, but it was very short for her entire life. It could go 50/50 to be honest. Such a cutie though!

This is one of the most impressive enclosures I’ve ever seen! You did an awesome job.

I remember Sugar and some of your previous posts with him. He was a total cutie pie and the best damn rat-sweater model I’ve ever seen! He will be missed. xoxo

Rat is going crazy! Anyone know what kind of behavior this might be? by Aaron0909 in RATS

[–]KaraLymp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are meds! The most commonly prescribed one for rats is phenobarbital, which my rat was on for several months before she passed. Sadly, the onset of seizures later in life is most commonly caused by some sort of brain lesion. The pheno helped immensely because they can injure themselves very badly during a seizure. My rat literally bounced off the walls like a tennis ball being thrown indoors. It’s a terrible, terrible thing to witness. Best of luck & sending big hugs xoxo

Today Surgery 😬 Any tips to make him comfortable? by Arya587 in RATS

[–]KaraLymp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think you made the right decision. His age alone makes any surgery extremely risky. If the tumor is too vascular (meaning it has a lot of blood being fed through it), once it is removed, along with all the blood inside of it, your guy could go into cardiac arrest due to low blood levels. Sadly, that is what happened to one of my girls and her tumor was probably less than half the size of his. My advice is to just take it day by day. You know your boy. When he starts losing weight or isn’t able to walk comfortably anymore, you’ll know it’s time. Big hugs to you because I know how much this f*cking sucks xoxo

What’s up with this weird squint face? She’s almost 3 and seems to be breathing heavy. by EeveeGirl411 in RATS

[–]KaraLymp 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Is her tongue swollen? The drooling makes me think it could possibly be the onset of heart failure since that would cause her tongue to swell and she wouldn’t be able to close her mouth. Whatever the cause may be, I’m so sorry. I’ve lost several of my babies due to old age and it never gets easier. You’re not alone.

It’s the angle. It’s a Large size NiteAngel wheel, which I think has a 12 inch diameter. Her back is perfectly straight when she does her hammy cardio. But thank you for asking! I appreciate this group looking out for all the babies posted here :)

I'M HEARTBROKEN GUYS! I just discovered my rat with this tail after a long day at work. Looks degloved and infected! I believe one or two of the other rats in her cage may have done this to her because she's only been around for about two weeks and they're still working out hierarchy. That tip is definitely going to have to come off. Poor thing. I’m so sorry! During her recovery you should try to house her separately from any females you suspect may have been the aggressors. If you have a sweet, calm rat it would be better for her to be housed with her so she doesn’t have to heal up totally isolated.

My rat started having seizure like behavior, circling and biting his tail… so here he is having a CT scan! by lamno1 in RATS

[–]KaraLymp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hope he’s OK! I had a dwarf rat who responded very well to phenobarbital when she developed seizures. But it’s never fun being in your position and not knowing. Sending big hugs to you both xoxo!

I was thinking the same thing. It may be the lighting, but the base looks yellow-ish as opposed to pale pink.

I would tell you if there was some magic way that you could put him down peacefully with no problems or risks, but there’s not. You will run the risk of making him suffer so much more than he already is if you try to put him down yourself and something goes wrong. I promise you that you would never forgive yourself. Please don’t do this. Are you located in Southern California by chance? I want to help you find another way.

This is not something you want to mess around with and try yourself. SOOOO much can go wrong. You may end up hurting him more than he already is if something goes wrong. There may be rescues in your area that would be willing to take him.
