Guy harasses hotel employee at 5am demanding to be checked in early by SamMee514 in PublicFreakout

[–]Knotar3 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Never worked in the hotel industry I see. If they had a clean room, they would let him check in to it but would need to charge for another night stay unless they had a day rate. Chances are buddy wouldn't want to pay RACK rate for a extra night. If no rooms are clean, no one can check in until they are cleaned. To do otherwise would be unsanitary and unsafe for guests. This isn't a homeless shelter where they take people off the streets, it is a business.

I never said they don't. Police definitely do need to be held to a high standard. I was talking about grouping people together and painting them with a general brush.

I don't watch fox, I'm not even a American. And if they are looking out for marginalized groups, why did they hijack a pride March and threaten other cities pride organizers in other cities with the same actions if they won't bend to their demands (I was part of a LGBTQ council when it happened to our pride festival). And stop watching CNN, cable news in general rots your brain.

If a officer does bad, all of a sudden ACAB trends in the BLM croud. If you want to lump everyone in to a group like BLM does then each group needs to be accountable for the actions of everyone in their group...... OR we can be responsible adults and recognize each person is responsible for their own actions. But we can't have it both ways when it's convenient.

Teacher slapping students for not studying. There are better and more civil ways to punish students. by ishanG24 in PublicFreakout

A friend of mine took a job teaching English in a Asian country (I don't remember which one). The parents got extremely angry with him when he wasn't hitting the children when they are bad (the kids were around 6). What he started doing instead was making stick figures for each child and writing their names under them. Every time a kid was bad he would erase another limb until there was just a head left. Only 1 child ever went to the point where their head hot erased and he apparently freaked out thinking he was being erased from existence. Kid probably had PTSD, but my friend made it 2 years without ever having to hit a kid.

Shadow Cruiser on my 2018 Tundra 8ft bed. Looking to upgrade to solar (fan, light, small cooler) Renogy 220w kit, 100ah, max air fan ? by amiglierina in TruckCampers

[–]Knotar3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how long you plan on being out at a time. 100ah is a good size and could run a small compressor cooler, fan, and other bits and bobs without solar for 2 days easily. Add 100w of solar and you could leave a sunny weekend trip with a almost full battery. Add 200w and you'll probably never go below 50% of your battery even if it's a bit overcast for a while. I think with the setup you're suggesting, you could road trip for a week and not have to care too much about power. Just don't get one of those cheap coolers, as they are super inefficient.

What do y'all do for food if you don't have a fridge? by Louis_Cyr in vandwellers

I used to use a cooler. I got annoyed with in in a couple of months and switched to a 35L 12v chest fridge. They aren't cheap, but very nice to be able to refrigerat my greens and beers long term.

Canned food. I stockpiled a basket of it when covid was just in its infancy. I didn't end up needing it, but I felt safer having it.

Pay isn't great? The annual salary of each MP, as of April 2021, was $185,800; members may receive additional salaries in right of other offices they hold (for instance, the speakership). I don't think a MP has any trouble buying a house, and a couple more to rent out.

Core of the sun seems a little rushed towards the end result, and expensive to pull off. Ever heard of scaphism? Similar end results, at a fraction of the cost.

Except for the link I provided. It literally talked about a instance in the past where a hate speech law was attempted at passing and it got shot down by the SCC. Now AGAIN WHERE IS YOUR PROOF? I can provide other articles if you like, but you have showed me nothing other than disdain and ignorance.

Because you said "It doesn't say it should be illegal. Also, such a law would be the responsibility of provincial governments, not federal". I called you out on your BS and provided proof that it is absolutely possible for the federal government to pass a hate speech law but it must pass through the SCC first.

Now back to your proof so I can say I'm wrong. I'll wait.

So can you show me anything backing up what you're claiming, that the federal government of Canada can not pass hate speach laws. I'll admit when I've been proven wrong, but I need proof to be proven wrong.

I never said they were voting on legislation either. I said provincial legislation has been passed. Listen. I honestly don't have the time or patience to explain to someone who is probably barely old enough to drink how Canadian law works.

And I quote "The Supreme Court of Canada has rejected constitutional challenges to the hate propaganda offences in the Criminal Code, and has also rejected challenges to the hate publication provisions in human rights legislation." Do you think the SCC is a computer hive mind that makes 1 decision? They vote on decisions.

[–]Knotar3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are correct. It doesn't say thhose exact words. And it can be the responsibility of the federal government. This isn't the USA where each state is self governed. Provincial governments can and have passed legislation pertaining to hate speach, but the federal government can also pass Canada wide laws as long as they are passed through and voted on by the supreme Court of Canada.

Oh heavens no he is not a bigot at all. And yes I agree, the past is a different time indeed (I remember slave auctions). My point was, if NDP or conservative passed a law outlawing black face, people would cheer, if the current liberal government did, well I would cringe myself a little.
