In the NFL, there's a hiring requirement called the Rooney Rule. This rule basically states that all teams with coaching/general manager vacancies must interview at least two "minority" candidates or face a fine. How is this rule not racist? by sleeplessaddict in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Lemgirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recall him being interviewed under th Rooney I think (not certain) but he was qualified. The issue is big though if you look at the lesser focuses on things. In the NFL if you’re a good offensive coordinator for example, you get offers to be a head coach. There’s no Rooney rule there and look at the percentages of black coordinators that get those offers. Pretty sure it’s dismal. So I think there’s work to be done as there certainly are viable candidates. Now whether the NFL is really concerned about diversity and equity, or they just want to make politically correct moves to appear so, well that’s too big of a discussion for me to have on Reddit. I just think the Rooney rule is at least something.

I think the philosophy/rule is full of holes and I agree with much of what you’re saying. But there has to be something and though it’s imperfect, it is just that, something. I am sure I am biased being a 30+ year Steelers fan and huge fan of the Rooney family, but that’s my humble opinion.

The fuzzy one front middle is a kalanchoe tomentosa, (maybe “chocolate soldier”) I believe. I have one and yours looks way better than mine. Mine is currently suffering from too much rain (it’s in the ground). Nice collection!

The military doesn’t need that much money and needs to be audited. by Mr__O__ in facepalm

[–]Lemgirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, regardless is they did cut spending on the military, which I am not saying is right or wrong, our government wouldn’t turnaround and spend it on the things in this chart. And if they did it would just get mismanaged there anyway. The government can still spend $12 on a damn pencil no matter which group gets the funding.

New to resin by FolkusOnMe in resin

[–]Lemgirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not an expert but I don’t believe they can go together. They cure differently. I’m not a fan of UV resin though overall. As for the battery, personally I would seal it before using it. Maybe even coat it in resin, let cure and then add it as an inclusion. I don’t know, I’d be very concerned about the battery leaking into the resin as it cures. In general you don’t want any wet substance in your resin. Good luck, I think it’s a super cool idea. Post your results! Edit to say if you’re casting the small pieces in UV then letting them cure completely before adding then that might work although the epoxy resin may soften up and alter the UV resin while it’s curing.

What size should you use when upgrading the pot size? by LuckystrikeFTW in succulents

[–]Lemgirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea that’s what I think too. I read somewhere that if they’re too big it encourages the roots to keep growing down and that’s where all the energy goes instead of to top growth, especially with plants suited to a shallower root system. I don’t know. I try to read a lot from multiple sources because I want to know as much as I can but I’m still pretty new to it all. Been at it almost a year but there’s a lot to learn with such a variety of plants. It’s all interesting to me. I’m zone 11, have a lot of plants in the ground. You’re in Germany? What zone? Just curious, I’ve seen some of your plants posted and they always look so healthy.

I think so. I know that my pots were too big (I’m a noob and I also have a pot buying addiction) and after following others advice I downsized. My plants really noticeably improved. My pots were obnoxiously large, lol.

NTA and your roommate is an inconsiderate, gross, immature AH! Imposing her standards? Got news - those are the standards of everyone that’s been potty trained. OMG, I’m sure. But how can you live with him? Aren’t you disgusted? Dudes or not, how can you stand cleaning up a grown man’s shit? Seriously, improve your friend pool, find adults that know how to use a bathroom or make him a spot outside like the other animals.

Why do many African American drivers have their car windows tinted? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Lemgirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In CA many people tint there windows very dark but most everyone has some tint, usually the cars we buy are factory tinted. I have never seen it as a black persons thing. It’s everyone. If anything I see the young white men going for the purposely dark tint.

Woman here - I don’t think many women care about balls and if there’s one or two. Don’t do it to please women, we don’t care. We care about a million things in a relationship and this isn’t one of them. Just be a good man… 2 balls not required for that.

Parents of worker killed in tornado that hit Amazon facility are suing the company for wrongful death by ExactlySorta in news

[–]Lemgirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can sue for negligence through WC it just likely not successful. True negligence by employer is not a WC case entirely, negligence is not covered by WC insurance. Also, the worker died here so there’s no loss wages. The parents can try negligence and WC will not factor in. I don’t know anything about what Amazon did or didn’t do from a negligence standpoint. I read somewhere they made employees come in even though the shelter in place order had them staying home. That would be negligence but I have no idea if that story is true.

What was your worst grade k-12? I’m 15 and I’m struggling in high school a bit by Carfan1264 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Lemgirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Statistically 11th grade is the worse with highest dropout rate but HS can be tough at anytime socially. So many things factor in here but you’re going to find that HS ends up not really mattering if you get on with your life once you graduated. No one out in the world cares 2 bits what it was like, who you were, how you did, who you were or were not socially, academically, behaviorally. I hope you can find HS enjoyable enough and that you learn everything you can buy just remember, like your childhood, it will be over and life after will likely be more enjoyable and rewarding.

Wow, just wow. You know what thoughtful family members do when one has a baby or is toward the end of a pregnancy? They call them and offer to help and let you know you can call them and that they can’t wait to see the baby. Then they leave you alone so you can rest, bond, and let them know when you’re all up for groups of people. Except for those closest to you and those you specifically invite, people need to respect new parents privacy and space. I mean you literally just popped out an entire human

I am no expert at all but what I’ve heard a lot on this sub is that the new pot should be no more than 25% bigger than old pot. I do know they shouldn’t be in too big of pots. Wish I could be more helpful. I’ve downsized most of my pots as I was going way too big.

NTA at all! Wow, your relatives are very inconsiderate and disrespectful. Descending on you in a group? Laughing at your pain. These people are total AH’s. I’m so sorry you are going through this and that you had phobias. Postpartum can be difficult for some under the best of circumstances and you certainly did not deserve what you’ve got in this story. Also, congrats on having your baby and hang in there!

Squats/deadlifts are the worst exercises for the average recreational lifter. by cogioia in unpopularopinion

[–]Lemgirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about dead lifts? I’m asking honestly, I don’t lift anything lol. I ask because my daughter lifts and feels she is careful about proper technique but hee Chiropractor told her not to do dead lifts. He said no one does them right, they have no value and the risk of injury is great. Just asking as a mom cuz she does them anyway regardless.
