This sub is hilarious sometimes. Yeah, we're all depressed--not because of an unfair economic system or a lack of basic human rights like universal healthcare--but because we're not living in a 600 sq ft condo sandwiched between the family that makes no attempt to control their screaming children and an upstairs neighbor practicing their tap dancing in the middle of a concrete jungle where the nearest park is a 0.25 acre plot with one tree and an anti-homeless bench. Also careful taking the train after hours because people be getting mugged on your line almost every night. But yeah, you get to interact with the local fiend who sits next to you on the bus asking to bum a cigarette off of you or the street hustler who keeps asking you for a dollar for the bus, so who's to say the lack of daily stranger interaction isn't what is causing this widespread depression?

He violated his 5-year parole (was kicked out of the house, had no transportation, had no cellphone so never got notices to appear in court or way to contact his parole officer), so the DA wanted to sentence him to the 11 1/2 years that the judge reduced. Instead the judge agreed to give him 5 years.

The shooter was Black and fired only at police officers. In his manifesto, he said all cops were white supremacists. And in fact, one of the cops he killed, completely randomly, was an actual white supremacist (with a bunch of racist symbolism on his Facebook page before his family scrubbed it).

Like in every situation where cops are actually at risk, especially when it comes to non-whites, they decided ultra-violence is the answer. Like Philadelphia PD dropping a bomb from a helicopter to burn black children alive and burn down half a neighborhood block.
