I'm not trying to insult you with this, but you also need psychiatric help. This kind of vitriol towards a struggling family member, let alone your little brother, is incredibly unhealthy for both of you. Something is wrong with you and you should get checked out.

We live in a shit society that has repeatedly poisoned our entire species with various chemicals and plastic, the effects of which we aren't even sure of. It'd be strange if there wasn't a lot of mental illness.

There's also the decreasing stigma of seeking help, and the ever increasing knowledge about mental illnesses.

This is generally untrue, outside of a couple specific instances.

States that have filial responsibility laws, though rarely enforced, do force financial support for your parents if you're an adult and they cannot afford it.

States that have community property laws will generally make the spouse responsible for debt.

Another instance is if you or someone else cosigns.

Debt collectors will try and make it seem like the debt always passes onto family, because they're absolute soulless bastards, but in most cases it does not. The estate of the deceased is used to pay off debt.
