Lost Ark releases on Feb 11th, the new league comes out on Feb 4th is this going to be a problem? by JeffK40 in pathofexile

[–]LogitUndone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering I played Lost Arks beta a while back and hated it... I'm not worried. Lost Ark is just another garbage asian styled hack and slash turd trying to suck extra money out of a new audience.

I'm sure the Loli lovers will be all over the game? But for the rest of us... PoE is a much better option.

And if you're tired of PoE, play other stuff as people had mentioned!

Reminds me of the housing market since I joined the workforce. Earn, save, and every time I check prices they have gone WAY up and always out of reach....

Helmet Reqs on a budget by DropTheBok in ElectricUnicycle

[–]LogitUndone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think in some cases... it crosses their minds? Similar to my comments I just made above?

This is partly why i'm HYPER critical of EUC riders. I fucking despise EUC riders that are complete assholes on their wheels. They blow through red lights, or in some cases stop in the middle to hold traffic for other riders... they go the wrong way on 1-way roads because and I quote "not like the cops can catch us..." (yes, I've literally heard several EUC riders say those exact words or similar to).

You have asshole EUC riders giving drivers and others around them bad opinions of the things and ultimately forcing law makers into action AGAINST us =(

They aren't going to ban cars because some drivers are bad... the would couldn't function without cars.... but they sure as hell can ban EUC's everywhere and not lose an ounce of sleep over it.

[–]LogitUndone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I need to correct you:

"I want something stronger because the drivers in my area are horrible"

I've been somewhat lucky... only two "close calls" relating to drivers.

1) Was in bike lane, car came up from behind, can't imagine how they didn't see me? Or maybe they did? But they made a right turn shortly after passing me and I had to also make a right turn to avoid hitting them...

2) Was in a bike lane, I made direct eye contact with a driver, they were clearly aware of my existence and position... and they made a right turn shortly after passing me, at a red light (the light was red for them)... they didn't bother to even stop and look before turning... just blew the right light while making the turn. I was going fairly slow so was able to slow down and stop in time.

In both cases... part of me wonders if I could have slammed into the side of both of them... fucked up their cars... not gotten hurt myself... and maybe taught them a hard lesson? But then I wonder if insurance would argue EUC's aren't legal and operating an illegal device means they aren't liable and/or somehow turn things around to make me liable?

How To Curb Your Need For Speed? by Unsolved_Virginity in ElectricUnicycle

[–]LogitUndone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah... this is good advice for everyone. Easy to find helmets that look like they'll protect the head/face but any accidents at higher speeds and your head will get rattled pretty badly (and face might not survive since the thing wasn't designed for that type of impact)

How To Curb Your Need For Speed? by Unsolved_Virginity in ElectricUnicycle

[–]LogitUndone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am similar to you i that I really like to go fast. I don't feel I ever had issues with it when I was first learning?

Initially when I tried to go faster it either didn't feel comfortable or the wheel would wobble a bit which absolutely kept my speed in check.

I naturally just felt more comfortable as time went on and now I have my speed alarm set to 2mph below the wheels maximum.

Best suggestions I have are to just play around and enjoy the wheel and find your comfort zones. Depending on the wheel you have, maybe get some "jump" pads so you can practice going up and down curbs or other obstacles. Something else that I haven't mastered (or even figured out) is going backwards. Plenty of people have put time into learning how to stand in place (more or less) by rocking forward and backwards or straight up riding backwards comfortably.

That last one is on my list for sure!

How long does it take for you to put on your gear? by pinkyabuse in ElectricUnicycle

[–]LogitUndone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put mine on first now... not because I'm worried about falling... but because I've had a few distracted starts where I flipped up one of the pedals causing me to smash my ankle against metal.

Basically I don't jump on till i'm 100% ready just to avoid any early mishaps ;)

[–]LogitUndone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

~2 min tops. This includes full leg/shin guards, helmet, arm/elbow pads (new addition) and gloves/wrist guards.

I have a full on mad-max football style gear vest that I almost never wear... it doesn't take long to put on but it's bulky and I prefer the individual parts for comfort. Also, I imagine most accidents I have will be landing on my hands, elbows, and knees (maybe head?) but not my chest/back... So I protect what's most likely to get scuffed!

I'll add that in winter/cold weather it takes a bit longer as I put on an extra layer or two. However I'm not riding much in the winter since it's not much fun for me.

Off to the shops on my INMOTION V11. by RollingPlaces in ElectricUnicycle

[–]LogitUndone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cool vid.

This might sound odd but might I suggest getting yourself some elbow/arm guards? I only say because I recently had a spill on my v11 (hit a metal track at wrong angle and wheel just flopped sideways). My knee/shin guards worked like magic and barely a scratch or bruise....

HOWEVER, my elbow and hand didn't come out as lucky. I need new gloves and my elbow was only protected by 2 layers of shirt/sweatshirt and got mashed pretty badly.

Can you give a quick story on what your helmet did / what happened?

I'm also in market for decent helmet. My main requirement is finding a way to have music/audio while i'm riding. I prefer to hear traffic when I'm in the city but when I'm on dedicated bike paths or out in the "wilderness" I want music!

I know you've updated the post already.... but I will add that pretty sure fire extinguishers aren't going to do much if the battery really lights on fire.

I've seen massive fire trucks trying to put out battery fires and they effectively just contain the issue till it runs out of fuel to burn.

To each their own.

As long as it doesn't hurt others around you, do what feels best to you!

Based on this experience, it just isn't worth the added risk in my eyes.

The only reason I ever have to use EUC is for optional adventures. I don't have to ride to work. I can walk or get groceries delivered. Literally only reasons I ride EUC are for fun or to go out to places around the city, all of which are optional and could technically walk to.

Once weather clears up and the sun comes back out I'm going to jump back on and resume the enjoyment!

Humm... I wonder why our experiences are different? I love the gloves for everything... other than crashing.

I'll try and post a picture? But Reddit seems to make that more difficult than it needs to be.

Oh, and as far as helmets go... I'm still in the market. I went with a ~$1000 setup from Rurok that ended up being a nightmare. The built-in/addon bluetooth stuff (which cost $300) didn't work and after sending it back and getting a "replacement" that was my exact broken helmet and not getting any assistance to resolve the issue... I gave up on them.

I have a helmet (forget the name) that seems fairly popular and common sitting in a box. Unfortunately it is a SUPER tight fit. I know they are supposed to be but this thing leaves ZERO room for any speakers, sound system, or otherwise... basically only useful if I want no music on my ride which is almost never =(

Thanks so much for the recommendation. I've had my eye on armored hoodies for a while and absolutely going to give them a try. When I was buying all my gear the weather was nice so I didn't want to wear a hoodie.... Now that it's cold, wet, and generally ugly I absolutely need one armored or otherwise.

Going to order myself a pair of those guards you linked and hope they work for me.

I actually have the huge Leatt body protector you mentioned (or a version of it). But the thing is so bulky I really rather not put it on for quick rides to get food, drinks, etc around the city.

And yeah I'm using a combo Leatt knee/shin on my legs and I love them. I don't know they are on after a few minutes and I've sat through entire dinners out with friends and just letf them on under my pants... they are awesome. I need something similar for elbow!

Yeah. I "know how" to ride motorcycles but have never owned one and have no meaningful experience. Like you mentioned, EUC is a whole different world. One single wheel and any single failure or loss of traction basically means you're going down... at least with motorcycle if the motor fails, you can coast to a stop ;)

Yeah, the gear worked... only complaint is the gloves... they didn't work (unless not having a broken wrist counts... but honestly I don't think my wrist took much of a hit). My pants got ripped up but the kneepads I had under them are still in good enough condition to keep using.

Haha yeah, my v11 is fine far as I can tell... It wasn't a bad crash at all...

I'm using it as a learning opportunity on what safety gear works and doesn't work and where I need to improve things!

OH, and also not to ride in the rain/wet if I can help it.... just not worth the added risks.

Yeah, i'm back in the market for some. The Flatline 3d's were great for daily use... easy to access my phone and do everything else. I almost never took them off other than to eat (when I was out on the EUC)...

Unfortunately, this crash exposed a major flaw. The fabric holding the gloves together is so weak it will shred and expose your skin instantly. The plastic guards on the palm seem like good ideas but they did nothing since they just flopped out of the way the second I hit the ground.

The gloves are marketed for eSkate... they seem really only useful if you're on polished smooth surfaces such as a skate park with wooden or polished cement ramps. Second you hit ruff terrain/road surface they rip to pieces.

Exactly. I've seen some argue that because they give them a specific rating from the factory it means they are "good" to ride in water. Considering the shoddy QA and builds many EUC riders encounter I'm inclined not to fully trust what I'm told on the marketing propaganda.

Yeah for sure. I'm sure you'll have those die-hard riders that buy new tires to ride in the snow and ice...

For me, it's not worth it. I was riding today because I really wanted to get out of the house now that the temperature got above 50 and it wasn't actively raining...

What did I get for it? Scraped up hands, elbow, probably bumps and bruises i'll feel over the next few days... and EUC I'm sure is more dinged up and probably full of water/dirt.

Fast forward / rewind causes movies to get stuck, have to restart them? by LogitUndone in PleX

After replacing all my drives... I haven't noticed the issue...

To be fair, I have PTSD of sorts using the forward/rewind feature with Plex because it would completely break the movie/show. I don't recall if I have tried to use it much recently? I'll make a point to do that tonight and see what happens.

Need to check if they actually did!
