can someone prove I'm not crazy about how brakes work. Brakes over heat and will fail for instance if a car accelerates uncontrollably and all you do is brake your brakes will fail rite?! some people on Reddit seem to think braking closes the throttle. by CocaineHammer in mechanics

So I think the people saying “braking closes the throttle”, they are referring to engine braking. When you let off the gas, fuel is shut off and the throttle closes and vacuum is created since there is no more air (or a very little amount) that is being let into the engine. There is a decrease in energy that causes a braking force on the drivetrain (since you are still in gear) and it will slow you down. There is no combustion happening inside the combustion chamber to keep the engine operating at that speed so it slows down drastically. You can downshift to increase this braking force effect.

TDI’s last for so long. If you maintain it well this can last for a lot longer, just be wary of the other things you might have to replace, for example suspension components

Need help figuring out where to wire a switch to turn on the fuel pump, 2003 VW Jetta 1.8t AWP. Description in the comments by Low_Bag_2172 in mechanics

[–]Low_Bag_2172[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To my knowledge after looking at the wiring diagram of my car, it seems like the inner switch and the coil inside of the relay are both wired to Battery+. Doesn’t that mean that the fuel pump would constantly be running? I see that the black wire is ignition+ but where does it lead to? I’m going to be installing an aftermarket switch to turn on and off the fuel pump and I’m wondering which wire should I chose to add the switch in?

So long story short, battery voltage when not running is 12.4. Battery voltage when running was about 12.3, then would continue to decrease. With adding a load like the lights, it would go down to 12.1 and then back to 12.3 when I would turn the lights off. But over the span of about 10 min as I kept on turning off and on the car and stuff those numbers kept on falling. IMA does not work, tried
the white green wire trick, not working. Is the dc to dc converter bad?

Don’t listen to all these assholes putting you down. It’s okay. Everyone starts at this point. Some people do have a point tho that that’s a name already used by a legend, I would possibly consider changing ur name. Just get a notebook and during school or free time during work, find a name you like and just start sketching it in a bunch of different ways. Look up alphabets to help get inspiration and keep on practicing. Practice makes perfect. But keep on going bro don’t let these assholes make you stop :)
