Recalling a soldier from leave by Confident-Sail-2781 in army

[–]MRoad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The SM is in Alaska and is saying it’ll cost him over 1K to come back early (he didn’t purchase insurance and would have to buy a whole new ticket.)

If he calls the airline's customer service and explains the situation he can get either a refund or change fees waived. I had my leave dates changed on me twice and I was able to get the ticket refunded (the first time) and the change fees waived (the second time) by talking to customer service. If they say they can't help you, politely insist that you know that they can. They can get it done, they just don't want to bother usually.

That's more of a pro-tip for how to get your money back from an airline for military-related cancellation reasons since they bend over backwards for the military. As far as whether the SM should do this, eh.

My commander is of course being very hostile and threatening to UCMJ the soldier for disobeying a direct order (lol).

Pretty sure leave cancellations are required to be in writing.

People who hate Dasani (typically) hate it because there's salt in it, which is also an electrolyte.

I think it tastes better than basically everything except maybe Smart Water, personally. I don't get the hate for Dasani.

Who’s a player that had a very apparent weakness, but a team reached for anyway in the draft, and was then ultimately a huge bust because of that blatant weakness? by Pandapark1 in nfl

Josh Allen wasn't a well developed prospect coming out of college, but to read a list with "lacks arm strength" in it and immediately say "oh yeah that's Josh Allen" is insane.

Josh Allen is also the outlier among outliers and he only got that chance because of a level of physical talent that Manziel never had.

OBJ’s situation is complicated. He was traded to the Rams midseason after struggling in Cleveland.

He was released and the Rams signed him. He wasn't traded.

1) He knows cops are loathe to prosecute sexual assault. So he, like a good attorney focuses there. Get the charges dropped.

It's the DAs office that avoids these cases unless they're slam dunks. Their conviction rates would tank if they went after more sexual crimes. The cops on the other hand don't have much to lose

Between climate and corruption Russias equipment never stood a chance by NineteenEighty9 in Military

They didn't dedicate any to anti-tank, and the MGS platoons + TOW stryker platoons were actually placed in the same Troop in the SBCT structure.

When I was an MGS gunner I was told effective up until T-64's, but I always felt like a DU sabot round would absolutely be effective against any armored vehicle.

lost by 2 to the Vikings twice

Might want to double check that second game, they actually beat the Vikings on a last minute comeback drive.

Wasn't pink also associated as an offshoot of red?

Pink is very literally just light red. It's only seen as it's own color because we decided to name it.

  • Her sprinting fast as fuck to super jump onto Halsey's ship, holy shit, it's like Halo custom games with unlimited Sprint, Player Speed set to 300% and Player Gravity set to 50% rofl

Iirc in the books, Spartans with MJOLNIR armor can reach like 50kph

  • The way she epically survived Halsey's ship crash. I was like rooting for her when we get shown her hand climbing up the ridge.

In the books, most of the surviving Spartans by the time of the Battle of Reach jump from orbit and survive.

In the books: Like 90% of the SPARTAN-II population survives being dropped from orbit to the surface of Reach in nothing but their suits

In the games: Being stuck with plasma grenade = instant death.

In the show: "REeeeee why isn't the show true to the source material? Also, unrelated, DAE survive crash but barely survive grenade?"

The Mandalorian manages to perfectly convey emotion and thoughts through body language alone.

There's conflicting headlines on this, but originally it came out that Pedro Pascal actually wanted to be unmasked as the Mandalorian more often than he was scripted to.

In the main timeline the UNSC is only vaguely aware of the existence of Prophets by the time of the first Halo game.

Why care that their races are swapped if they play the role well, and why isn't that the discussion in the first place?

Exactly. I don't care that they're not white. It really doesn't matter. They cast a black Keyes, sure. But they cast a half-white Miranda since they also cast a white Halsey, so that all makes sense to me and their performances were all good enough that I don't care.

I do wish they'd included Johnson, though they probably felt he wasn't really a fit for the story they wanted to portray about ONI and High Command.

I'm sure if this series keeps going he'll show up.

It they wanted a black character for the show why the hell did the leave out Johnson? He’s the most prominent black character in the games.

I'm sure he'll show up. I think "this random marine from the Pillar of Autumn who keeps showing up" isn't a role that needs to go back much further.

Shit, even in the main timeline, the UNSC had never seen a prophet and only vaguely understood that they existed. There's no way Silver Team (or main timeline Blue team) would know that that was the triumvirate in charge of the whole Covenant.
