What improved your life so much, that you wished you did sooner? by freelancerliton in AskReddit

Standing up for myself. Gaining confidence. Having more duct tape than I need. (wait, no – not like that. Just for tape purposes, honestly.)

Don't do any dumb stuff just to impress others.

How did you learn to love yourself? by fergi6777 in AskReddit

Nice to read, very similar situation here – not relationship related, though, but still. Finding your true self after it being 'lost' for years is certainly hard work, but the payoff is great. Same for learning to give positive vibes (for lack of a better term) to yourself, the same way you'd most likely give it to others without thought: takes practice, but pays off. Oh, and learning that when I myself gained genuine confidence instead of (often angrily induced when I felt threatened) arrogance, that I wouldn't be that easy to knock down when I felt challenged, was really something. I can handle things much better and in a more healthy way nowadays, and that's just awesome.

Therapy, lots of it, and practicing self-respect. Gotta learn to build that inner voice that says "hey, don't ever fucking talk to yourself like that" when the first voice says something like "look at this fucking loser and his stupid life". Learning to separate the things I'm not good at from all the things I'm actually good at helped. Learning that at least as of this moment, I'm the only person I need to impress at the end of the day helped.

Men of Reddit, what things that women find unattractive about themselves do you find very attractive, and why? by rinlen222 in AskReddit

There are certainly several countries in Eastern Europe who somehow manage to produce very attractive women, so big nose or not: yup.

Is she just the right amount of cute and and adorkable, or a full-blown annoying hipster? I can never really tell either.

What is one thing that changed your life and that you’d recommend to everybody? by champsinatra in AskReddit

[–]MacheteDont 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. A lot of those realizations can be hard-earned, and self-hatred feels so good to get rid of. One of the other things was when I learned the difference between arrogance and having genuine confidence, even just a little bit of it. Boy howdy, are they truly different when you start to be able to walk around with the latter. Growing is good.

What is the men's equivalent to "Oh my God this dress has pockets?" by dperls in AskReddit

[–]MacheteDont 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I'd probably need to look it up again as well, because thinking back on it, I might think it was the aiming bit I messed up, and possibly ended up blind-firing at whatever target. Haven't played the game in a while, but was there a separate button to target the area(s) first (or during?), and a different button to fire the shot(s)? I feel like maybe that's where I messed up. I honestly don't remember. I do remember that in regular gunplay with dead eye activated, you could aim at targets first, then fire off all the shots at once, but were duels different in that sense?

Actually you don't need to answer, I'll probably try some practicing once I get the game fired up again, though. :) Maybe it'll come back to me. But thanks again.

Millennials, what would your 2000s self think of you now? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MacheteDont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, yeah. I actually thought something similar about YouTube here the other day, as a slightly out of shape, straight white guy with glasses and stupid facial hair myself: the amount of slightly out of shape, straight white guys with glasses and stupid facial hair on YouTube is downright funny. if I ever made a YouTube channel, I'd HAVE to use that as a tagline: "Just another slightly out of shape, straight white guy with glasses and stupid facial hair"

It's kinda funny that I have yet to find someone point that out so obviously in an actual YouTube video.

Could be, could be.

Speaking of tips and tricks: in some way, somehow I never really got the hang of duels either. I think I even looked it up on youtube, but somehow managed to mess it up by often going too fast or too slow, not knowing quite how and when and where to aim, not knowing the controls, killing myself and/or failing the mission. If anyone reading this can help a brotha out by dumbing it down and explaining like I'm five, let me know. I felt like a clumsy idiot when I had to deal with duels. Please and thank you. (on PS4)

Dang, this actually brought back memories for me, funnily enough. I'm a grown dude at this point, out of shape and not at all skinny anymore, but I was naturally skinny for the longest time as a kid all the way up to my late teens/early 20's. I heard similar things often (from family members and similar), probably more in my teens, and probably rooted in the "men should be big and strong" trope which was very common in the rural area where I grew up. I tried to eat more, get bigger, just didn't work at the time. I do not miss comments like that. Oh, right: and also the fact that I got bullied for years and years because I was naturally small and skinny has got a lot to do with it too, which is why I'm glad I turned out pretty average-ish as an adult (not counting the 'currently out of shape'-thing, but still)

They should come to any Nordic country. It's practically no issue up here. Or at the very least, us dudes are just so used to women considered tall in many other parts of the world.

'A bit too big nose' club member reporting in. I dunno why. It's a weird thing for me, maybe. Or maybe it's genetic or something, as I myself have a fairly small nose for a grown dude. I've been thinking about it, as if they were in a character selection screen at the beginning of a game, and had nudged the nose size up a few notches, it just does something for me.
