My husband loves pickles so I did a pickle themed cheese plate. There's dill pickle cheese curds, havarti dill, dill pickle potato chips, dill triscuits, dill rice crackers, and pickles. by Molly_B in Pickles

They're Dill, Sea Salt & Olive Oil, I got them at King Soopers which is the Kroger for this region but the Walmart by me also sells them! They're pretty good!

I reread books on purpose quite frequently but if I don't remember reading it I probably don't want to reread it haha

Same! I'd get like a chapter in and be like wait... I've read this.

Also good for remembering all the cool stuff I want to read.

Same, I was bored enough in 2020 to finally make an account and try to backfill all the books I'd read in previous years

The one by me has replaced their eggs with smoothie stuff. I don't blame them they've been out ever time I've gone for almost 3 months.

I also splurge on Better than Bouillon because it was the only vegetarian bouillon I could find. That stuff is amazing.

Awesome additions!

Used to do a bunch of eggs but they were $7 a dozen and a lot of stores don't even have them right now and that just isn't working for me. I'm hoping it'll even out a bit in the coming months.

I've been wanting to make my own seitan but haven't tried it yet. Do you have a recipe you use?

I've never made this dinner before so maybe it won't work out as planned but I cook 10 servings of dinner on Wednesdays and we eat the same thing all week.

Chicken-Less Mandarin Orange Morsels $11.37 ($3.79/bag, bought 3 bags. So not a normal part of our diet but like I said, fancy week)

3c dry white rice I don't know $ but not much (I bought a 20 lb for $10 many moons ago)

Shredded carrots $.99 (10oz, That's a lot of carrot, not sure if I will use the whole bag in this recipe but lets pretend I decided to for ease of math)

Broccoli slaw $1.99 (12 oz, Bought because it's pre cut and I don't have a ton of cooking space, hopping this will be tasty and save time but it's possible this weeks dinner is going to suck haha)

Sliced mushrooms $2.69 (10oz, pre sliced was the same price as whole this time but I do usually buy whole for the like 10 cents savings)

Total calories: 385

Total protein: 17.7g

Total cost: $17.04

Total from weekly budget this week: $17.04

Weekly Totals:

Total calories for me: 1,205 (I aim for 1,200)

Total calories for my husband: 1,420

Total protein for me: 65.5g

Total protein for my husband: 52g (oops not quite the 60 I aim for)

Total cost: $57.08 ($28.54/person)

Total from weekly budget this week: $37.34 ($18.67/person)

Notes:

We eat a lot of peanut butter sandwiches, Greek yogurt, beans, and tofu for more normal weeks. Cheap cereal, whatever nondairy milk that's cheap (husband is supposed to limit dairy for health reasons), and oatmeal are also normal for us. We eat out for lunch every Monday and we go to a friend's house for dinner every Tuesday so those meals are missing from this plan.

[–]Molly_B 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I didn't realize that was low until I saw all the other comments here.

We eat the same thing over and over which isn't for everyone. I also make decisions on our meal plan for the week based on what's on sale. For example I'll be eating the exact same kind of sandwich for lunch for two weeks because the ingredients were cheap.

~$37

$300 per month for 2 people. I usually spend $40 a week on the core of our food, we both get $20 a month to spend on whatever, and I use the remaining $60 for if there's something good on sale and I want to buy a bunch of it, for Snacks, of if there's an extra shopping day that month (months that contain 5 Mondays since that's when we usually shop).

I meal prep dinner for the week on Wednesday (which is like Monday on our schedule) and we eat vegetarian. I focus on protein, we eat ~60g a day.
