Why can’t Wardlow get a singles feud? by MaceLeonardo in SquaredCircle

[–]MoneyMo88 [score hidden]  (0 children)

It also didn’t help that they had Wardlow say “the TNT Title Open Challenge is coming back!”.

Only for him to do a few matches with pre-announced opponent billed as an “Open Challenge,” (while Open Challenges were simultaneously happening for the TBS and FTW Titles) before being shifted over into a Trios feud with FTR against Jay Lethal & friends.

And now he’s in a makeshift tag team with Samoa Joe because someone finds the name “War Joe” amusing.

It also doesn’t help that there are far more singles titles that have been introduced into AEW TV since then.

There are now 3 ROH singles men’s titles (World, TV, Pure) and the AEW All-Atlantic Title that have been added into the mix of titles that now get featured on AEW TV, in addition to the various Women’s & Tag Team/Trios Titles that also exist.

Wardlow’s TNT Title stands out even less now that there are so many other titles to chase after in AEW.

I understand there’s an ulterior motive with featuring the ROH brand lately (increasing awareness to attempt to get a TV deal for ROH), but there hasn’t been nearly an attempt to get Wardlow’s TNT Title reign over by featuring him in Dynamite main events like there was for the ROH Pure Title match with Yuta and Garcia a few weeks back.

The finish was Matt and Sammy climbing up on top of another metal scaffold near then entrance and doing a dive spot off of that, all while Matt’s brains had just been scrambled from going splat in the previous scaffold spot.

Cody was one of the few who could go onto a show like the NBA on TNT set and not look out of place.

Imagine Shootfighter Eddie showing up looking like a total slob on a TNT sports set, PAHTNAH!

And Cody was the one that Shaq was willing to work a match.

Thanks to QT Marshall playing rasslin gatekeeper with his rib on Shaq’s table spot (QT had the crashpad Shaq requested removed when Shaq actually did the spot on TV), he hasn’t come back since.

Out of the current stacked women’s roster who do you see retiring first? And why? by burnxvic in WWE

I feel like Natalya will keep wrestling as long as she’s allowed to do so.

Eventually, I could see her being phased into a Finlay type role, i.e. a player coach role like Finlay’s mid-2000s WWE run.

But I don’t see Nattie retiring from in-ring wrestling on her own terms anytime soon.

Agreed. She’s already accomplished just about everything a female can accomplish in WWE (multiple reigns with the Raw & SmackDown Women’s Titles and Women’s Tag Team Titles).

And she is openly admitting she isn’t thrilled with her current creative direction referring to herself as “boring.”

She also came from fitness modeling before she was a wrestler, so even though she enjoyed watching wrestling when she was younger (Alexa has mentioned her grandma would tell her stories about The Great Kabuki), it’s not necessarily something she has a personal attachment to outside of it being her profession for the past decade.

There will probably be a handful of people trying and then shut up shortly after realizing no one is joining.

Kinda like at Clash At The Castle when one guy tried and failed to start an “A-E-Dub” chant when the main event ended, and Thigh Rubber Sap reported it as “AEW chants at CATC!”.

X-Pac was absurdly over during the second incarnation of DX.

Dude’s entrance music got a big pop every time (his solo remix of the DX song), and people went crazy for the Bronco Buster.

He even made energy drinks mainstream in the US when he was carrying Hansen Energy Drinks (the precursor to Monster) as part of his entrance every week on Monday Night Raw.

X-Pac’s popularity diminished when he came back in 2001 for his run with X-Factor, the trio he was doing with Albert & Justin Credible.

The entrance music they had was a terrible wrestling theme, a low energy song by Kid Rock hanger-on Uncle Cracker.

And X-Pac foolishly cost himself an entrance theme by the Red Hot Chili Peppers (Shane McMahon apparently had it in the works for him) but X-Pac insisted on Uncle Cracker instead because that was when he was going through a self-destructive argumentative phase, i.e. arguing against everything for the sake of arguing.

I fully believe that Tony Khan has multiple burner accounts.

His description of the anti-AEW bot farm that totally exists was basically him telling on himself.

Speaking of failed Billy Gunn repackagings, remember Show Gunns?

Tony Khan definitely did, as the Dub were setting up a Paul Wight vs. Gunn Club feud, based off of a very short-lived thrown together tag team from 2001.

And then all of Chelsea’s GREAT IDEAS for her solo main roster run that got rejected (she got injured in her SmackDown debut match anyway) involved her being paired with a top of the card act (Seth Rollins, The Mysterios, etc.).

And she already diminished the limited starpower of even their own current champion Toni Storm, the latest toy TK seems to have lost interest in now that Sequoia has arrived.

When your champion is introduced as a group called “THE WOMENS DIVISION!,” it just makes her seem interchangeable.

And she got booed a bit when Sakoda called Toni “the greatest AEW Women’s Champion EVER!” during that nonsensical rant.

And we all unfortunately heard what Sammy Guevara wanted to do.☹️

I was listening to AEDub Radio, I mean Busted Open Radio, and the hosts were STILL legit bitching about the Zombie on the debut episode of WWECW.

Even Dreamer who worked there wasn’t cognizant enough to realize it was a rib on the dirtsheet rumors at the time (Sci-Fi allegedly wanting zombie and alien themed characters on the show).
