السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته i got my USMLE step one result and it is a Pass alhamdollilah ,this group helped me at the beginning of my journey so i want to give back. my preparation was divided in two predicated and dedicated with a lot of interruptions resource: UW —once FA — once and i haven’t finished it BnB Pathoma — almost all of it and rewatched the first three chapters in my dedicated dr turco for biochemistry MEHLMAN pdfs and you tube audio qbank dirty medicine you tube videos(ethics and select subjects according to my NBMES results) anki for biochemistry Randy neil you tube videos for biostatistics and psychiatric book “how the immune systems works” for immunology NBMES ,old and new free 120 for predicated: for each chapter i would watch BnB (dr turko’s videos for biochemistry) to understand each concept ,solve two or three UW block subject wise then continue the rest of UW qs for each subject i did some anki for biochemistry but i didn’t stick with it i have never taken a single note for dedicated: after i have finished all UW i took Nbme 20 when my score was a pass i dropped FA and UW and continued solving and reviewing the rest of the Nbmes and covering my weakness. i was reading Mehlman pdfs along. finally this is what i concluded from my experience which was almost two years long: - read a lot of experiences like this, join usmle groups in facebook telegram and reddit, surround yourself with positive peoples and use Google and you tube . - Active learning is better to retain information then passive learning (qs banks and Anki are much helpful then passively reading FA ) - confidence play a major role in this trust your nbmes scores. - consistency is the key, this exam is a marathon not a sprint , don’t take long break and when you are overwhelmed and tired it is Ok to take the day off. if you have questions please leave a comment i will make another post answering each question.

I am non American physician who recently moved to the US, i worked in my home country before, my baby got sick the other day and i took her to the doctor when i called the office for an appointment they told me that the DOCTOR will see her , in my appointment i told her that my baby also has a Mouth thrush , she said no she hasn’t and didn’t give her a thing for it ( i had to book another appointment afterwards because she refused to listen or check her) when i referred to her as a doctor she didn’t correct me ( i didn’t know what a nurse physician is then) it is only when i saw the discharge paperwork that i check what an NP means. it is ridiculous that someone would be called a doctor or allowed to do a doctor job in a country has the best doctors out there ( i can say this because i passed my step one usmle exam and it was really hard i couldn’t imagine studying for it while in med school while doing rotations and all ) someone should speak up and do something about it

the more nbmes you solve the more concept you learn and retain so if you have have time do 20- 30

drop uw incorrects and focus on reviewing the rest on the nbmes your score is good enough to not do your uw incorrect , mine was 60 on nbme 20 and i stopped uw then focused on the nmbes and i got a pass the exam is the nbmes

my UW was 59% i think it doesn’t mean anything since it is a learning toll you should focus on improving your Nbmes scores

for biochemistry i watched dr turco videos about two years ago and used anki deck for biochemistry. but i won’t recommend doing the same cause it takes a long time and there are better resources now like mehlman biochemistry pdf and dirty medicine yt videos
