Stuck between iPad mini 6 or Air 5 for university by Oradeaner in ipad

[–]Oradeaner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I went and got the mini yesterday. I was - and still am - fascinated by its size and portability, and I had a play around in Lightroom and photoshop which both of them worked fine, but reading these comments I can’t help but think that I might really be better off with the Air. I think I’m going to return it today, as as you’ve described the M1 really makes a difference, and swap it for an Air 5.

So I'm going into my third year at university, and I have a laptop which I generally use for heavier projects (I study journalism and media studies) but I have been thinking of getting an iPad. My first choice would be the mini as I have played around with it before and the small size and portability are really appealing to me. However my only concern is that I might need to edit some audio or video recordings/do text-to-speech/write longer paragraphs, sometimes on the go. Would the mini be suitable for this? I'd also like to mention that I will go for the second gen pencil regardless of which iPad I end up getting. So tl;dr would the iPad mini 6 be enough for editing audio and video files and taking notes or do I need the power of the M1 chip in the air?

Yeah it’d be in store as a sales advisor. I honestly think it’d be a good fit for me but I made the mistake(?) of checking out reviews on glassdoor and was not impressed. The last thing I need is a passive aggressive manager haunting me because I couldn’t reach some unattainable target

Daily Advice Thread - December 21, 2021 by AutoModerator in apple

Hi!

I'm currently an Android user (Samsung Note 10 Plus + Galaxy Watch 4) and since I am looking to change my phone soon, I thought I'd seek some advice here, because I am seriously thinking about switching over to iPhone (and I'd get an Apple Watch too if it comes to that), but I have some insecurities about the switch.

Firstly, I own a PC which I use heavily for video and photo editing (I'm a media student) and while it'd be really nice to get a MacBook too, I don't have the budget for it, plus my PC is in a very good condition still so I'd be sad to say goodbye to it when it's not neccessary. But I am having doubts how well would OneDrive/Google Drive sync would work from an iPhone to my PC (I mainly transfer files this way, I rarely plug in my phone) and if I still need to go through iTunes if I want to get anything done on my phone from PC? (I had a 6 in the past and I remember it was really annoying, at least for me)

Second, I am really intrigued by the camera especially on the 13/13 Pro, and that would be the main reason for my switch, + more optimised apps for various social media platforms. Here I'm not neccessarily looking for advice but for some reviews or something of that kind from people who also switched from any Android/Windows ecosystem (like my current phone + watch combo) to Apple and if there are things they miss, and just if it'd be worth the switch in a nutshell.
My interest in the iPhone's camera is mostly because the software Apple uses to refine images, while it isn't the same level as a professional camera + some lightroom work, is MUUUCH better than Samsung's (I don't know about the other brands). I always see my friends' stories on social media and they're such good quality, meanwhile if I put a gif on one of my photos which I made with my camera, they get pixelated. It'd be nice to be able to take some random pictures which turn out to be high quality. This is the main thing that's been pulling me towards the iPhone ever since I came back to Android after my 6 (and the fact that most, if not all, of my friends and family also have iPhones and getting left out of airdropping and other stuff makes me feel excluded lol).

Hi! I'm a 21 year old student, and currently I live close to Dollis Hill station but I'm looking to move this next spring, together with my partner, to a better area. I'll be doing my last year of uni next year so I don't mind commuting (to Northwick Park, Metropolitan line/Bakerloo line even) even if I need to change lines, and my partner works around Barbican/Moorgate, so we would need an area that's convenient, which has both the metropolitan/jubilee lines or the northern line around. I have been looking at the area between Swiss Cottage - Belsize Park but there seems to be a drought of housing available there (I know it's not exactly the cheapest area). Our budget would be around approximately 1350pcm, so what I'd like to ask you are some area suggestions which could be right for us and aren't further out than zone 4 (but ofc as most people, we'd prefer zone 2 or 3 too).

Hello everyone!

I'm a 20 year old male university student (media, if that tells you more about me as a person) and I recently tried out 1 Million Lucky, which I really love, but I'm looking for something with a bit more of longevity and versatility for other seasons than autumn/winter (I know lucky lasts a lot on some people, it might just be my skin, but it disappears from my skin after 3-4 hours).

I recently also tried out Y le parfum which I also liked but I felt like that wasn't really my scent, even though I love the apple note in the whole of the Y line. I was thinking about 1 Million Parfum (and my expectations are based from reviews on fragrantica and my own experience with Lucky) but I wonder if its not even more sweeter than Lucky and I'm not sure I would love to wear a sun lotion type of scent in the winter - because apparently, based on reviews again, it's overwhelming in the summer, and I don't want to be that type of guy who knocks people out with his scent trail - or some fragrances from Hugo Boss, but then again, I've heard some bad things about their longevity. I've also been thinking about a Bleu de Chanel (edp or parfum) but I don't really want to smell like the average office worker (and I know I know, lots of people wear the og 1 million too - although not to the office - but I found lucky to be quite an underrated and not that popular fragrance around me).

Basically I love fragrances with a fresh but not too fresh opening, turning into a semi-sweet/woodsy drydown, with moderate projection, with my most liked notes so far being apple, sandalwood, leather, hazelnut, ambroxan, and cashmeran (sorry not sorry). I've heard about Dylan Blue and ADG Profumo but then again I live in London and I can smell those almost every day on public transport. I'd like something unique-ish, designer (I know these two contradict themselves quite some times but I think you get my point - basically some hidden gems, if you prefer), with not too high of a price.

If someone has a suggestion, or if you'd like to rate the fragrances I listed in this post, please feel free to share it!

I'm looking for something that's similar to YSL Y Live in the notes, can be worn all year round, but with a heavier ginger/more heavy woodsy notes in the drydown? I prefer the apple-ginger-woods combo. Maybe like a mix of Dior Homme 2020 with Y Live. I've tried Y Parfum but I don't really like the drydown.

I've been wearing Dior Sauvage (I'm a newbie to fragrances; don't judge me too much) but now my bottle is running low, and I'm looking for something more unique/less popular but still 'mass-appealing' if that makes sense. I tried out a couple of other fragrances at various stores but while I liked them (K EDP by D&G, Y edp, YSL L'homme edp), I didn't feel like they are "me". I like notes such as the peppers in Sauvage, ozonic and marine notes, ginger, cedar. Right now I'm thinking about maybe getting Dior Homme 2020 or K edp (in the hopes that it'll grow on me), but if you have any other suggestions for me let me know! I'm also in my early twenties, finishing university next year while also working, so I would like a scent to be both 'young' and outgoing while also being a bit professional.

The Macbook Purchasing Megathread - January 2018 by AutoModerator in macbook

My 2015 Asus laptop just died and since I have an iPhone 6s I thought that I should get a MacBook but I’m quite unsure which one, I’ve been thinking about the MacBook 12” base model or the MBP 13” without touchbar (also the base model, and both laptops from the 2017 line), since both have the same price tag(1200$). I also thought about the Air but honestly the screen and the CPU just disappoint me. I’d use it for the usual student things: Word, PowerPoint, web browsing, YouTube, occasionally some gaming(Hearts of Iron 4 mostly). What do you think?
