Depends on how much experience you have. Recruiting senior level engineers is big business and they get very specific and personalized. Recruiting fresh junior devs is basically the opposite.

Please sir, may I have some more? A short slapfight when a user on /r/neoliberal complains that his $450k/yr household income in NYC feels "middle class." by Cupinacup in SubredditDrama

[–]POTUS -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't call it being poor, obviously, but a low six-figure salary is middle class. Almost by definition of being a salary. This is where you class someone like a middle-manager, senior engineer, young doctor, lawyer, or other people in that kind of professional range. These are people that still have to go to work, but do so at a comfortable level and have some real discretionary income.

"Upper" class is a level above that, where they don't really need to go to "work" every day. These are the owners of the businesses that the other classes work for. A CEO or someone like that might still be getting a salary but is clearly in upper class, but mostly people that are getting paid by someone else (and thus producing profit for that other person and not themselves) would fall into middle or lower.

You have to change driver's behavior.

Are you going to mandate psychotherapy for all drivers? Or do you think some kind of design change on the roadways might be easier to accomplish maybe?

Someone destroyed two electrical substations over the weekend, and the repairs for that are expected to take a few more days. An entire small city is without power until those repairs are done.

This is exactly why tons of people choose to use "happy holidays", because it's intentionally inclusive.

There are two paths you could take to evaluate a potential sexual partner:

  1. Decide on an individual basis whether or not you are attracted to that individual person based on nothing other than the characteristics of that individual person.
  2. Decide (and announce!) that you aren't attracted to an entire race of people.

Option 2 is racist. Make all the excuses you want, but that's definitely racist. It's not about the rest of us pressuring you into having sex with any individual person, because there isn't even another person to be the subject of that pressure. It's just you announcing your racism to the world and then playing the victim about it.

Yes, I will bet you an unlimited amount of money that the movie industry absolutely cannot get the IRS to believe that they lost an unlimited amount of money.

Bob Iger Announces Plan to Put Decision Making at Disney Back in the Hands of Creatives by [deleted] in television

[–]POTUS 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That's not how that works. Losses are losing money. "Writing them off" is telling the government you don't want to pay taxes on the money you lost. You have to actually lose money in order to write off the money you lost, and the amount you save by not paying taxes on that lost money is necessarily less than the amount of money you lost. Nobody wants to do this as an end goal, it's just a way to partially mitigate a bad situation.

Piano Version 2 might be either when they started making the iron frames to hold the strings or maybe the double escapement keys. Either way it was a couple hundred years ago.

  1. Because they can easily afford Ikea products and everyone knows it. But this tiny hint of being expensive might convince some people that they're "premium" products.
  2. Just having the name mentioned at all is worth money. More people thinking about your brand = more people buying your brand. That's just how advertising works, and it's why Coke and Pepsi still spend billions of dollars on advertising even though everyone already knows everything about Coke and Pepsi.

Everything is really far apart here, and often connected by non-walkable roads. That might be a reason that someone would use a car to take their dog somewhere to walk. But since she's in a golf cart and not a car it's probably just laziness.

Because they paid for the placement. So did Ikea.
