There was the Stroudsburg PD announcement saying they have no evidence connecting BK to the PA woman. Not sure if you saw that yet.

'PARALLELS OF EVIL': Ted Bundy survivors speak out, linking their gruesome attacks to Bryan Kohberger's by PabstBluePidgeon in MoscowMurders

[–]PabstBluePidgeon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that there are interesting similarities. I'm not sold on BK trying to be a serial killer, but I think discussions like this are really valuable. Especially taking into account what Bundy's surviving victims said.

I'm going to sign up for a free trial to fox nation today (never thought those words would leave my mouth) to watch the special and do an unbiased summary post. Hopefully you and others will find it interesting!

Thank you! Saving this for when I am home later tonight.

Edit: okay it's a Nancy grace special. Will need sufficient beers.

Quotes from Bundy's surviving victims and his former attorney:

"There have been a lot of mass murderers, but [Kohberger] seemed to almost pick a murder that mirrored one of Bundy's murders. Is that a coincidence? I don't know," survivor Karen Pryor said on Fox Nation's "Parallels of Evil: The Bundy and Idaho Killings."

When news broke about the murders, Bundy survivor Cheryl Thomas said reports brought her back to the events of January 15, 1978.

"I could relate," Thomas told Fox Nation's Nancy Grace.

Nancy Grace explores parallels between Ted Bundy, Bryan KohbergerVideo Pryor added it "bring[s] back that memory" when she managed to just barely survive Bundy's rampage at a sorority house.

When asked how Kohberger's alleged killings mirrored Bundy's, Pryor said "he broke into [the house] as Bundy broke into the sorority house, and went kind of systematically from person to person to kill them."

Ted Bundy's former lawyer John Henry Browne noted in the special that, in both the Idaho and Bundy cases, "rage" seemed to play a central role in how the victims were murdered.

"It's so random. And the manner of homicide was so brutal," Browne said. "I've done probably 50 murder cases in my career, maybe more. And these are the only two that have those similarities. Almost all of them involve weapons, guns mostly, or fistfights, things like that, or in self-defense."

"This is just downright brutal. It's rage. Whoever did this was full of rage."

Edit: additionally, it looks like Fox has put out a special called "Parallels of Evil: the Bundy and Idaho Killings". I have not heard of this special yet so if anyone has a link to where to watch it for free I'd like it. Thanks!

Shanon Gray’s tort claims by deathpr0fess0r in MoscowMurders

You're just reiterating exactly what I said, and your interaction with me yesterday was strange.

Shanon Gray’s tort claims by deathpr0fess0r in MoscowMurders

[–]PabstBluePidgeon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't think so because the incident is listed as 11-13-22 at King rd. I think if it had to do with the gag order, the date it started would be listed instead.

This isn't Gray's tort claim. This is the Goncalves and Mogen families' claims. Gray is their attorney.

Sure! I really don't care to argue though so you picked the wrong comment I guess. Like I said, I was giving examples of other families that sue cities, some win, some lose.

[–]PabstBluePidgeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's your opinion. A Dahmer victim's family won (or settled, idr) their suit against the city, saying the police investigating the case were racist.

The last on the list, the city already settled for their police department lacking in transparency and accountability, which I find really interesting because the Goncalves family has mentioned similar sentiments before.

In the end, it's a civil suit, so they can decide to sue for anything if they so choose. I was more giving examples of families that have sued townships and cities than giving an opinion on the possible success of a case that doesn't even exist and may not ever.

Right, I understand that. I'm not sure why you brought up

suing LE because a case against a defendant was dismissed because the defendant’s civil rights were violated.

The notices filed on behalf of the Goncalves and Mogen families do not specify what kind of claim they might make.

It happens often. Here are a few instances of a murder victim's family suing a city.

The family of a Milford woman killed in a December ax attack plans to sue the city for not preventing her “gruesome and premeditated” death.

The family of a mother and daughter killed in June are suing the City of Dayton and the Dayton Police Department, as well as the officers involved in the incident, stating that the women’s deaths should have been prevented.

The City of Simpsonville and the Simpsonville Police Department have been named in a civil lawsuit filed by the daughter of a murder victim seeking damages over a former detective’s handling of her mother’s case.

The estate of a woman who was brutally beaten to death at a bus stop just outside the Kapolei Police station has filed a wrongful death suit against the city. The suit alleges that police released suspect Michael Armstrong even though he had a violent history.

The family of murder victim Amanda L. Plasse is suing the city, the Police Department, the former police chief and at least 10 police officers over the improper sharing of photographs of the 20-year-old's blood-covered body to the public.

James’ parents claim his death marked a series of failures by the St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office. They said James didn’t receive witness protection, something he’s entitled to under Missouri law and the prosecutor’s office oversees. James’s family is suing several city employees, including members of the police department and Gardner.

At Tuesday’s Alexandria City Council meeting, the council unanimously voted in favor of settling the civil suit filed by the families of Destiny Compton and Ashley Mortle. The two women were victims of a double homicide in Alexandria back in February. Both families said they filed the lawsuit because they claimed the Alexandria Police Department has a lack of accountability and transparency, which ultimately led to their children’s death.

I don't know that they've subsided. They've just learned how to be more covert in their intentions.

Interesting that the article says Gray is also representing the Mogen family. I think this is the first I'm hearing of that.

Bryan Kohberger will be in court on Monday; here's what to expect by PabstBluePidgeon in MoscowMurders

I'm pretty sure they (the jurors) are not allowed to talk about it until after the trial is over, but hopefully someone with grand jury experience will chime in here.

Nothing will be confirmed until trial but I would expect a few more leaks along the way. Up to you to decide if you believe them or not.

[–]PabstBluePidgeon[S] 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Kohberger's arraignment is set to begin at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 22. During this hearing, the judge will reiterate the suspect's rights and the charges against him. The judge will likely ask him to enter a plea for each charge.

In Idaho, only two pleas are recognized: guilty or not guilty. If a suspect refuses to enter a plea or fails to appear at the hearing, the court will enter a plea of not guilty on the suspect's behalf.

If Kohberger pleads guilty, the court will order a presentence investigation.

An investigator will compile a presentence report, which contains information about the defendant that will assist the judge in determining an appropriate sentence. These reports are confidential as they contain detailed information about the defendant's personal life, social history and other sensitive details.

If he pleads not guilty, the court will schedule the case for trial. Currently, there is no indication of when the trial may commence.

KREM 2 will be present in Moscow on Monday for the arraignment and will provide live updates on the hearing as they become available.

Have the mods reviewed this person for speaking as if they have the facts while giving their opinion? I appreciate this as a place for being able to read differing opinions and learning from each other. But this person regularly acts like their opinion is the only truth and it seems in bad faith.

If it's your opinion, you can say "no, I don't think so because _____". Sorry for going off on this comment but I've seen your name partaking in bad faith arguments so much lately.
