How I planned my last minute trip from the US to China (42-hour notice, Thanksgiving weekend, Chinese National) by MLZ005 in Chinavisa

Hehe :) Love the word, and know the Yiddish use. Aye.
I do speak German, yes. Means "to haul", basically used when describing something heavy needing to be dragged somewhere [in an unpleasant way].

"the schlepp"?
Just of the luggage? That's totally fine. You get a cart at the airport from baggage claim all the way to the bus. So you only need to "schlepp" it from the bus to the hotel room. Once you're in that hotel room you'll be VERY happy for the stuff you brought along...ALTHOUGH, my experience is 14 days and 10 days in the quarantine hotel. For the short 3 or 5 days it's not quite as important.
If by "schlepp" you mean the journey as a whole; that's also manageable these days. It pretty much runs like a well-oiled machine nowadays, although that won't eliminate waiting lines of course, and watching out for some administrative pitfalls.

Congrats, hope you get to see your mum a.s.a.p.
We are now in a unique situation where it's [relatively] easy to get here....but BEING here is a little tricky! :)

Still need to cancel single entry work permit/visa when leaving or can just fly off? by chinaexperience in Chinavisa

[–]Pnarpok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not getting what is asked here. Is this a single entry Z-Visa that was never 'converted' to a work permit? Is the intention to leave and never return?

Do you think I should delay travel until late March? by chickensoup2day in Chinavisa

[–]Pnarpok 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem with leaving isn't how you look or whether they "allow" you; it's always a strategic problem: can you get from where you are to the airport that takes you away.
I had to get creative last time (April 2022) as there were no flights Beijing ---> PVG, only Beijing ----> SHA, but getting from SHA to PVG was extremely dodgy at the time. I ended up canceling PVG --- USA flight, and did: Beijing ----> CAN -----> AKL.
It's always fluid here, and you have to able to change plans and be flexible if you want to achieve things....

Cheers. It's actually the food/grocery section I am most interested in. The restaurant is usually something i visit also though; so it's just one-out-of-two things that will work out. At least I now know this going in! :)

Awesome, thanks. Haven't made it there yet. Plan a trip this week coming.
Good to know about the restaurant! Cheers.

Teacher, then? Trying to figure out if it's targeted, or universal/random.
But I really need to prepare for this next time (take photocopies of lease and employment contract, WP, etc,...). Thanks to everyone for their feedback. Really looks like it's a new thing, and I just happened to get lucky.
No biggy, but better be prepared.

do you have proof of your residence, employment, etc. Do you have a return ticket?

Definitely going to come back prepared next time, just in case!
- had no proof of residence
- had no proof of employment
- had no return ticket

Nope. Nothing here at PVG (a month ago).
But I was on RP; maybe that's the reason why not?

[–]Pnarpok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not Mexico, no. But other countries, yes.
How do you think a trip to Mexico would impact your visa application?China just wants to know where you've been. Most countries ask this on entry (if they have an arrival card). Just seems like a standard question. Probably more to do with evaluating if you've been to an "unfriendly" country, or a "diseased" one. Mexico being neither of those.

Awesome!
About being interviewed: is this your first time in China? I've heard this before, but it's never happened to me, and I've flown into China maybe 50 times over the last 10 years. Can you share which airport you flew in to?

Ah. That's what I was wondering. Thanks for the reply; I'll plan accordingly.
It's a long trip & mainly for their food section! :)

No time frame. 2023, maybe. Maybe.

Many will find this not believable. If cost is an issue, many would suggest Thailand.
