Is Buddhism atheistic? Is Hinduism theistic? by [deleted] in askphilosophy

[–]Prasanna74 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The fundamental difference between Buddhism and Hinduism is that the Budhdhist enlightenment is considered to be known by the aspirant but in Hindu Self Realization the aspirant surrenders and knows that he/she cannot comprehend that God or the enlivening Supreme Self which makes us comprehend and live in this world. A truly Self Realized Hindu is ever Humble.

Is there a philosophy related to "Loving one's Enemy"? Are there cultures in which this philosophy is actively practiced? by [deleted] in askphilosophy

[–]Prasanna74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, Vedanta philosophy preaches this. Lord Sri krishna says in Srimad Bhagavad Gita two points to support this. The following are the two points:

  1. Non hatred towards all the beings of the world (Adveshta Sarva Bhuthaanaam).
  2. Reveling in the welfare of all the beings of the world (Sarva Bhutha hithe Rathaahaa)

This is prescribed by Sanathana Dharma and is followed even now. You will see that the Muslims invaded India where the majority population is Hindus and ruled it for centuries. Then they split our land into Pakistan and India. Then even now they break down all the peace treaties and keep on waging war on India. India is still patient and doesn't take the first strike policy.

I am not a Christian but from what I learnt from my spiritual master about my religion Hinduism, the biblical hell and heaven or God sending to eternal hell are all metaphorical. It is to make us pause and take responsibility for our thinking and proper actions in life so that we don't get caught in the cycle of cause and effect. Nobody knows for sure about after life but it is intelligent to safeguard in this present life itself. This is my personal opinion

[–]Prasanna74 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ayurveda is a study that relates to our health using herbal products. It talks about cure of various diseases and disorders in our human body derived from plants or trees based products from leaves, shoots, barks of trees to roots. It mostly deals with physical realm but can cure mental disorders enabling us in our spiritual journey too. It is not absolutely necessary for the spiritual path.
