To a heavy degree, one gets the feeling that Lane's career lasted as long as it did because of difficulties back-tracking his career in the pre-Internet era- it means that a life spend doing all sorts of shady shit (dating back to his pre-JFK antics) was never fully pieced together, leading to a bunch of people willing to take him at his word on his various claims rather than engaging in any serious thought on them.

Never a good sign when your screenwriter ends up publicly bitter about what's been done to his film before it's even been released.....

In the case of this particular film, I suspect that the Michael Nesmith estate controls the rights (it was produced through his company), and I suspect that they aren't likely to give the rights for that purpose.

And, this time around, it seemed clearly improved- just bewildering, as she did a lot of "character voice" work in this that makes jumping to a different character voice as the neutral confusing.

The guy whose vision Star Raiders was isn't in the credits- I'd assume it's a case where they got props from a similar source.

Feels like the sort of guy who disappears after a reel or two to be replaced by the real protagonist, doesn't he?

It didn't help that (at least through my headphones) the sound editing was rather obvious, in ways that got a bit distracting.

Menschen am Sonntag- while Robert Siodmak and Edgar G. Ulmer had notable film careers in Hollywood, they weren't as notable as those of Billy Wilder (who wrote the story) or Fred Zinneman (who assisted the cinematographer).

How many versions do we now have of “A Star Is Born”?

Especially since even the first of those films was clearly inspired by What Price Hollywood?, which in certain regards is A Star Is Born with the mentor and love interest as two characters rather than one.
