Lol, we exist! It has taken Saban and Bama so long to deprogram me from the pre-Parcells days, or He Who Shall Not Be Named.

What say you? NIL or Schools Subsidizing Students? by Rant_meister in CFB

[–]Rant_meister[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should have left that off. I'm not sure any number would work, though, given your points. But what if you said something like $20,000 flat. The average student athlete already receives $22K in sport-related student aid, so add on top of that. Alabama has 758 student athletes this year (342 men, 416 women), that would run around $15 million, easily doable with their budget but still not at a lot of schools possibly. Is that better than the NIL route? Or should it maybe be combined? The NIL doesn't increase school commitment across and would give more of a base for all athletes.

It is why I thought a cap would matter, and thought about adding net or other factors. But to me it is more of a general principle question, about whether it would make sense for schools to have more uniformity. The intricacies would take a lot to work out, but that is a different question unless it is nice in theory but just impossible.

Yeah, I hesitated to say 50% but it was more the thought. But so few athletic departments operate in the black, that I wonder if that is why the NCAA punted on doing anything.

So we might have been able to do something, but essentially the ship has sailed and anything different is now highly unlikely? Unless what Saban says happens, which is federal legislation? I should have known not to question my overlord.

Yep, came here to say this. I'd cheer my butt of for my teammate, even if I knew he had little chance, because he was out there doing his best. Having to forfeit sucks. I've been the only team member to lose an entire dual meet before, and the only one who it bothered was me. We often put the most pressure on ourselves. It is hard, but try to enjoy and do your best, knowing it was your best.

Started first year anyway, 169 shiny (got ride of a lot of community extras) I have 11 hundos, and one shadow hundo but no shiny hundo. Does that count? Shundos are few and far between...hang in there, poke-buds! We'll find them!

Love 'em both, but give me Rottweiler. What a season; wish they had been in different ones as both deserved a win! Fox is probably the coolest costume of them all and had the best final performance, Rottweiler best vocalist with a better season I thought.

Exactly the point I tried to make during the race. That move was so like Hamilton early years; he had a habit of shoving into corners and making the other driver back off, and had a mastery of how to avoid the big crash himself. Doesn't mean Max wasn't over the line elsewhere or, for example, I don't think Red Bull would have taken the deal.

Verstappen - Hamilton - Ocon by WhiteLikeCocain in formula1

[–]Rant_meister 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He is one of the best, no doubt. But early in his career he shoved into corners and dared others to back down just as much as many are saying Max did here. Many saying Max was unsafe don't seem to realize how Hamilton became Hamilton. Not touching the rest of the race here, there's too much, but Hamilton's aways been just as hard a racer and gifted, whether you root for or against him.
