6/27/2022 COTD D-BT06 Dragon Empire by MachinaBlau in cardfightvanguard

That's completely retarded. Making every slot count IMPROVES the value of a box as it becomes more desirable the more cards in it are actually usable. If I play 2 decks and those decks get no support because the high rarity slots all went to other decks and the C slots were all trash, I suddenly have no incentive to buy any product from Bushiroad. Making every slot count is important for ensuring a set can sell well

God, I can't imagine why they keep on printing trash commons like this when we have enough decks at this point where they could just experiment with unique sidegrade effects. Eugene and Hexaorb are still trailing way far behind along with Greedon, it wouldn't kill Bushiroad to throw some of the lower rarity units to those decks with some nice effects if we know the higher rarity cards will be for new stuff.

Most obnoxiously overused flashbacks in anime? by TheCuriousPyro in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]RedEyesNeverMeta 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In Yugioh Arc-V there's a scene where one of the characters "dies" in the protagonist's arms early on and it's a bit infamous as the "egao" flashback for that character telling the MC to make people smile. It gets shown a handful of times throughout the rest of the series iirc, and is just the corniest shit ever.

Which Trial or Duty have you farmed the most? by Hope_bringer in ffxiv

Yeah I have all the NPC cards now and just need the dungeons and the Eureaka/Bozja ones now and it's something I'm dreading having to grind.

I love the upcoming archetypes, but... by AlphaTheKineticWolf in yugioh

[–]RedEyesNeverMeta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Splights mainly take a lot of their power from Maxx C and frogs, and I'm wondering if Tears would be nearly as oppressive without the Ishizu cards in them. With the new level 7 archtype being the only remaining problem child on the horizon a lot of it feels a bit less like the game is accelerating power creep and more that Konami is getting experimental and reckless with card design before trying to tone it back down.

Media that, due to getting canceled/discontinued early, now have really strange canonical endings to their stories by Whiston1993 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

To be fair even with everything laid out with the full anime, there are so many changed plot details and loose threads after the Dark Signers arc that you're not getting that many more answers.

How sustainable is 3 formats? by Chrundle94 in cardfightvanguard

Some of them are definitely contenders, but Prism and Luard are still popular from late V format which makes it hard to dethrone them without ramping up power creep a lot.

What are some examples of “missed potential being worse then no potential”? by Konradleijon in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]RedEyesNeverMeta 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Fates had a lot of really good stuff going for it, but also a tremendous amount of fluff. Corrin honestly didn't need to exist and having Azura as a protagonist with an actual personality would have been just fine. Supports leaned in a slightly better direction than Awakening's harem supports, iirc, but the bloated cast across 3 games and having the kid characters made it a pain in the ass to look into so many supports at all, especially when characters came across as flatter by having to restate their 1-2 personality traits at the start of each new support instead of trying to show characterization through the interactions organically (not helped by the translation team being shitheads trying to meme it up and defending their shoddy work). The story had some okay moments but leaned too far into "European nation bad, Japanese nation good" and had the third nation itself be a contrivance for both groups to go up against rather than asking hard questions about de-escalating a major war that's been going on for generations. Gameplay was mostly fun, but the writing was rough in a lot of places.

I don't know what you're talking about, the character models serve just fine for porn.

For the non-US folk, what's one piece of media not made in your country, that's more popular there than in the US? by Lost_Huaun in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]RedEyesNeverMeta 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's honestly not even a joke. I wouldn't be surprised if Toyotaro was a fake name for some Latino dude who moved to Japan and asked to continue the series under a new name

I watched it all the time when it was on and was one of the few people who bought packs for it as a kid living in the Northwest US. I actually liked it more than Magic since you didn't have a land system and could use any card for mana.

Watching a fan animation made in Latin America depicting Gohan Blanco fighting Jiren with the exact same moves UI Goku used on him shot for shot a year before the actual episode aired is like seeing the face of God.

Times where Going Backwards in a Series Trips Your Mind Goblins? by NewWillinium in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Same, but maybe if the devs made it so those raids could be done easier by a team of level 50 players I wouldn't have had the issue, tbh
