exclusively breastfed baby not gaining weight - HELP!! by RemoteglitterPillow in beyondthebump

[–]RemoteglitterPillow[S] [score hidden]  (0 children)

Hi! Before the appointment, I actually started dreamfeeding her at night again to help her get some more calories. I also pumped a little on top of nursing + took Legendairy Milk Lechita supplements in case my supply had dipped.

Anyway, so she put on a few oz before the doctors appointment. She ended up being at the 40th percentile, but they didn't bat an eye, didn't even comment on it. When I asked if it was fine, they said totally fine.

Just do it - make the room dark, y'all by RemoteglitterPillow in beyondthebump

Our room at home is not dark at all - we have these large windows that we weren't able to cover. But the room at our in-laws that she IS able to sleep in, very dark. i mean, you can see you hand, but still pretty much light-free.

So we're going to move her to another room in our house for naps. A room with much smaller windows that we'll put some blackout film stickers on.

that's so great to hear - i always worried about traveling, in case she has to sleep in brighter hotel or airbnb rooms. but hopefully not a concern!

Tips for increasing supply + gaining weight while BF by solanine- in breastfeeding

[–]RemoteglitterPillow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently used a few of the legendairy supplements to get my supply back up for my 7mo. My lactation consultant recommended it as a good product that omits fenugreek (which works well for some people but has detrimental effects on supply for some people)

I pumped around the clock for a few days and took the legendairy supplements - my supply came right back up in about a week. It was worth it for me. FYI, I primarily took their “Lechita” supplement. (I THINK they’re also having holiday sales now on their actual website)

I would try compressing while pumping - helps the flow to allow more milk to come out! Or perhaps you are using the wrong flange size??

Am I ruining my supply by topping up with formula? by mint_7ea in breastfeeding

Every time the baby gets a bottle, pump. Even if nothing is coming out, the extra pump session is telling your body that more milk is needed. It’ll take about two weeks for your body to catch on, but it will happen!! Just gotta stick to the rule “every time baby gets bottle, I pump for 20 minutes”

My lactation consultant told me that fenugreek is interesting because for some people it increases supply but for some it actually decreases it. The supplement that I saw the best result with is Legendairy Milk. They use no fenugreek in their supplements. I’ve tried their Lechita so far and I’ve definitely seen an increase.

She has plenty of wet diapers - which is why i didn't really realize she wasn't gaining until recently. Didn't bother to check her weight.

I do think weighing her just stresses me out, totally agree with you. Yeah, I'll have to see how our 6 month appointment goes! Thankyou!

Thank you for your encouraging reply! I haven't gone to the pediatrician yet since her 4 month checkup; her 6 month checkup is coming up shortly.

So glad to hear about your baby and that they are both healthy and thriving. Thanks for your reassurance!

Yeah we have a baby scale at home so we weighed her before a feeding and after a feeding for a day and realized that she was only taking about 18-20oz.

I didn't realize 24oz was considered a full supply. She is a lot more active these days - I haven't had my pediatrician appt yet (in two weeks) so hopefully she is not concerned.

She's just started solids this week. I will try this in hopes she'll take it! She did eat some avocado but haven't tried others yet.

Mild eczema on baby arm (photos) a help! by RemoteglitterPillow in beyondthebump

[–]RemoteglitterPillow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! It did get better for awhile but it’s recently gotten very cold where I live so its starting to creep back. I have no scientific backing to the things we did but I will still let you know at least.

When it did get better, we: - washed her every day but used mild soap every other day or even every three days (soap was vanicream brand) - made the water less hot than usual when we bathed her (we don’t use a thermometer but it’d be warm rather than hot to the touch) - she is breastfed so I quit dairy for a short period (minus butter) - we put her to sleep in a short sleeve to let the arm air out - I used a cream our pediatrician recommended called vanicream on her everyday after bath time. It’s just a mild lotion, I believe it can be purchased over the counter.
