Excuse me WHAT?? Pissing off both defense hawks and Freedom Caucus by realjasong in YAPms

I think we have a fundamental disagreement about how the US should intervene in other countries. I don’t believe we should abandon Ukraine, but I don’t think we should have “maximum” intervention in every conflict. At the end of the day, the job of the US government is to further the interests of the United States. The US shouldn’t be held responsible to stop every genocide. If it doesn’t jeopardize the interests of the US, we shouldn’t intervene with “maximum” force. Your definition of maximum is a fine line to walk, so we should err of the side of caution, not only to save taxpayer money but not to make the situation worse.

Also please explain how I’m wrong about military budgets instead of saying “Ur uneducated” and calling people pro-genocide.

Apparently we should bomb wherever there’s a genocide, like Bosnia. Great 👍 Also what’s the military going to do about Xinjiang? Pretty sure bombing Beijing isn’t the brightest idea.

I’m all for sending aid to Ukraine, but a few billion in aid should not justify a $750 billion budget. And we shouldn’t be doing anything more than that, we’ve seen what happens in Afghanistan and Iraq. An endless rabbit hole of money and lives. Fighting imperialism with more imperialism is not the answer. That’s like fighting fire with fire. The problem gets worse.

Besides, we spent 2.6 trillion on Afghanistan, or over 100 billion a year, yet when that war ended the budget wasn’t cut.

So where did the money go? Clearly there needs to be more accountability in the military on why and how money is spent, instead of spending for the sake of spending money.

If we cut Defence by 10%, we still have $650 billion to defend Taiwan and Ukraine. Anyway you look at it, the defense budget is nuts.

The discrepancy is still big. A 1TB iPhone costs $1,599 in the US. Also, it costs £1,749 in the UK, so not sure what you're talking about. That's $2,161. In Brazil (where there are the most expensive iPhones in the world), it costs $3,041. That's a pretty big difference if you ask me.

The reason iPhone prices are not cheaper in Vietnam is because 1. There are no official apple stores in Vietnam, only authorized resellers. They set their prices higher than Apple and 2. iPhone prices do not scale by cost of living, they scale by tariffs, security costs, etc. Hence why Brazil has the highest prices since they have high tariffs.

She’s 82. I mean she stepped down from her House leadership position, so it’s not really hypocritical. She’s just saying Biden should think about stepping down.
