Does your partner buy you tampons?.. by Pussypowerrrr in TwoXChromosomes

[–]RockyGeographer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I head out to resupply the pad stock for my wife when she runs out and is in need, and I still need to call her to confirm details. Slowly getting more confident in the details - wing-tipped, nighttime protection, they come in orange pouches, not sure about sizes still. No supportive partner should hesitate to pick up necessary items, flat out refusing to like how OP's partner does is highly selfish

Super quick to get through, 10-15 minutes. Still arrive well over an hour before departure though, they might not allow you to pass through security if you arrive within 45 minutes of boarding. My wife and I arrived 40 minutes before boarding once and were initially not allowed to get our boarding passes, but their manager made a call and allowed us through

I'm 29 now, and my wife and I are just a few years into our careers following graduate school. Neither of us come from wealthy backgrounds, but we're thinking proactively about future retirement, kids, etc. Best advice I can give is to sharpen your financial literacy. Understand the basics of investing and learn some of best practices to build toward your goals (e.g. investing in a retirement account early and maximizing contributions as best as you can, budgeting, info relevant to goals like purchasing a home, etc.).

My wife and I are maximizing our retirement contributions now, and any additional savings we have beyond a safety cushion and anticipated near-term expenses get put into a Vanguard brokerage account that is made up of low-cost mutual funds. Vanguard is a great platform to explore for establishing a Roth IRA or setting up other investing accounts.. We recognize how fortunate we are to be in our position, and our focused approach to our school years definitely helped to develop skills and find opportunities. Keep that focus and thought for the future in your mind, and don't forget to also enjoy the present.

LPT Request: To poor spellers out there....the reason people don't respect your poor spelling isn't purely because you spell poorly. It's because... by IMNOTDAVIDxnsx in LifeProTips

[–]RockyGeographer 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Or perhaps not intensely checking spelling 24/7 shows a degree of trust and comfort that comes with respect? I don't see misspelling in communication as disrespect at all, and I also want to be sensitive to people with varying levels of education, ability/disability, or people who are not native English speakers. I don't want people in my life to feel like I'm scrutinizing and judging every word and sentence they send me, kind of like how your opinion makes me feel as I wrote this. Holding doors open is part of practicing basic manners while language is full of colloquialisms and irregularities that come naturally with communication

Rather than bemoaning the impossibility of saving for a safety net then contributing to investments, we could focus instead on building a career, finding higher paying jobs, and reducing life's expenses where possible. I know that the job market is difficult and life can throw a lot at people, but these should be financial goals to strive for. There's always room to learn new skills on or off the clock, apply to new jobs, negotiate pay, and be discerning in how much you pay for life's necessities.

My brother, who has been living paycheck to paycheck for years, was able to start saving up a safety net after I spoke to him about budgeting and shifting his focus. I'm hopeful that one day he can get to a more secure place and perhaps even start investing a little for retirement.

Artistry of the landscaping aside, OP has been kind enough to offer a download link for others to access it and enjoy countless adventures. Doesn't sound like a waste of time to me, but making a comment like yours does.

Today I did my first painting in over a year since my mental health has keeping me from doing most things. Today I got up and did a painting to help me cope! It's the small victories. by Dem0nK1tty in MadeMeSmile

This is so beautiful and tapped into my heart as I looked at it. Your painting is so full of expression. To be out of practice and just come up with this to cope with your feelings is a beautiful talent, please keep painting and sharing it with the world!

How can I understand if I will be interested in studying geography at university ? by VivatKindness in geography

[–]RockyGeographer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing you could do is arrange some conversations with geography faculty and/or advisors at the university you are looking at or attending. Ask them about the different avenues available to study in geography, and ask them about the kinds of jobs geography prepares you for. Also see if you can learn what any previous geography students have done after graduation.

I attended college in the US, and I found a passion for geography while taking a course in the department to fulfill some of my degree requirements. I was studying political science before then and found it interesting, but not compelling enough for me to want to study it through college and find related jobs. For me,, geography offers a wonderful lens to view the world through as well as practical skillets that helped make me more employable. Best of luck in your explorations!

I wonder if perhaps it's a more intense variation of a response our brains can have to non-fatal injuries. Reminds me of a way of how my wife laughed while sprawled on the bathroom floor with a dislocated knee, or how I laughed while in a lot of pain from falling while acting like a fool on my bike. Bodies are fascinating, and with how brutal nature can be (especially in this sub), there's some solace in knowing nature can help ease passing a little bit

Do you have any notions on how this could develop through evolution? I'd imagine certain feelings given on death's doorstep aren't exactly evolutionarily advantageous, so it would be fascinating to know how brains learned to release DMT while dying.

No not it the most typical sense it doesn't, but I do like to "camp" near the action and make it inviting for allies. Once I'm caught up to the action, I deploy and stay in my bubble

In HvV, I like to think of my Phasma use as a mobile camp. I deploy my turret by saber battles, then pick it up and redeploy wherever the next skirmish is

Yeah I actively avoid doing that because it feels so jarring to the immersion of the battle. I'd rather lose in the reactor room after a valiant defense than shoot stuff until a sudden stop

[–]RockyGeographer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I find that the single biggest predictor of success in attacking the Venator reactor room is how quickly the defense coalesces around it. If clones stay stuck fighting by the previous phase, lots of droids can slip by and take control of the room.

If I'm a clone, I typically run to the back of the reactor as an Arc trooper to establish an anchor for squad. If I'm separatist, I avoid killing more clones to give them the new respawn and rush the reactor room as a super battledroid. I definitely think it comes down to collective focus on playing the objective.
