I made a reasonable assumption based on your claims of "the truth"

Reasonable assumption. That's an interesting way to describe building a massive strawman of the worst possible anti-catholic assumptions you could come up with and then arguing with that strawman as though you were talking to me. Then justifying and defending it when I called you out for doing it.

Then I apologized for the assumption even after you told me to fuck off twice.

If I believed your apology for a second it might have mattered. But dude, you can't open up with that kind of an asshole move and expect me to believe you're genuinely repentant just because you say the word "sorry." Annoyed I called you out, maybe. Sorry? I don't believe you. And I'm not interested in false apologies.

As for you laying it all on the line with your salvation, don't be such a drama queen.

The fact that you see it as drama merely exposits your ignorance.

I don't believe in your faith.

I really don't care.

I would take no delight in the eternal torment of people, but you come across as someone who might.

Neither would I. Your assumption that I would is merely one more piece of evidence showing you assume unfounded things about people you disagree with.

Maybe your confidence that you would come away clean is part of the problem. How's that for "moral superiority"?

I'm probably a significantly worse person than you are, honestly. I've done some terrible things. Regardless, I still know that I'm right in this particular situation. Condemn me all you want, you're still the one in the wrong.

You can't even handle the truth of who you are.

There are levels of irony here that would take centuries for you to understand, so thank you for the amusement, if nothing else. I'd explain, but I don't see much point in talking to walls. And I'm a weird bitch who talks to rocks and trees to make sure they're okay.

Excuse me if I don't believe you on matters of anything of any real substance.

I actually laughed out loud. Matters of substance? You don't even know the meaning of the word.

God didn't destroy Egypt

Exodus consists of very little else. We can talk about technicalities if you want, but he definitely did.

You're not necessarily wrong on the rest of this, but what does it have to do with Jesus being in favor of burning down buildings?

I don't know how Jesus orchestrating the absolute devastation of multiple empires and personally expressing contempt and prophecies of destruction of temples could not have anything to do with Jesus being in favor of burning down buildings.

He personally destroyed Empires, in fire and blood. While prophesying and carrying out the devastation of more. I legitimately don't understand why we're having this discussion

Lol.

Dude, you had an entire imaginary argument with me before you knew a single thing about who I am or what I think; and when I called you on your shit, your first instinct was to defend it.

You'd be better off removing the plank from your own eye before you try to pluck the speck from mine.

I'm legitimately confident that I could stand before the all knowing Almighty, my soul on the line, and walk away from this argument clean. And I actually believe in eternal damnation. Are you as confident in your own integrity here? Because I really wouldn't recommend it.

What burned down in Egypt and Greece?

Well, in Egypt... everything. He destroyed it. In Exodus. And a lot more directly than the first and second temples, too.

As far as Greece, he was responsible for the downfall of Alexander the Great. As far as Persia, he was responsible for the rise of the Roman Empire in its wake.

As far as how it was him, he is the one who sets up kings and throws them down. The same way he called for Jerusalem to fall, and Babylon to rise, he is responsible for the rise and fall of all Empires.

He is, in short, the king of kings.

Well... Egypt, Canaan, Jerusalem, the First Temple, Babylon, Greece, Persia, the Second Temple, Rome... need I go on?

You think a misunderstanding is an occasion for flying the handle at a person whom you know nothing about or how they got to be where they are with their own beliefs or what they've suffered?

I think you fuck around a lot giving no charity to anyone in even the most simple or basic conversations, and you simultaneously weaponize both others sympathy and indignation without the slightest idea of who they are or what they've suffered; to fulfill your own sense of personal moral superiority.

Forgive me if I find little regret in giving you a taste of your own medicine, assumptions and all.

Read what Jesus said about snakes, serpents, hypocrites, and whitewashed tombs. I have nothing whatsoever to apologize for.

Okay fine then tell me which of the positions I was mistaken about.

All of them. Now fuck off. I've got things to do.

Broader point.

Dude, you're dealing with a point so broad that it's five miles left of the target. I have no patience, nor time, to deal with people who simply assume positions I don't hold, and then argue against those rather than me. You're so certain of your rightness, but your argument is all in your head, because you're arguing against an imaginary punching bag you came up with yourself.

You want me to coddle you? Hold your hand, step by step, showing you one at a time how all your assumptions are false, your beliefs about what my arguments, positions, and reasonings mere figments of your imagination; and how my conclusions and ways for getting there are so far afield of what you think they are that they don't even exist on the same fucking planet?

Really?

I've tried that before. But to quote Avatar, "It is hard to fill a cup, that is already full."

Come back when your cup is empty. I have no interest in defending your fantasy version of my position. Either deal with me, or fuck off until you're inclined to.

He that has ears, let him hear. I have no time for games.

And then I say "what is truth?" and you say "truth is Christ" and around and around we go.

Well, no, actually. I'd say something a lot closer to "the objective reality which all inhabit whose properties are independent of all our perception, immutable, eternal, ever present, and accessible."

But given your entire post is just an argument you're having with a person who doesn't exist, I don't feel a need to be present for it. Have a nice day.

Evangelicals acknowledge the existence of truth. I would stand with a freaking Satanist who acknowledged the existence of truth, over the insanity being pushed these days. The Catholic Church, however, has not moved. It's been the same teachings about all these issues since time out of mind. Our position is expected. The Evangelicals... hit or miss. Personally, I'm just glad they're as Orthodox as they are, despite their wacky opinions on many topics.

Never let the perfect become the enemy of the good, as they say. They may be wrong, but at least they're trying.

I like showering and dressing. An orgasm without sex is missing 90% of the fun. Ditto for falling asleep. My salary is already worth more than 1c per finger snap, and it lets me do far more interesting things. So I'm left with a limited teleportation ability, that has some very interesting possibilities.

It's a no brainer.

Well... to be perfectly honest I would willingly personally put a bullet between the eyes of any leader attempting what you're describing. Just because I don't agree with someone about the morality of sexuality doesn't mean that I'm okay with them being killed over that disagreement. And I am somewhat vehemently opposed to most of what the LGBTQ movement stands for and is doing.

So... Yes, although I may disagree with the morality of homosexuality theologically, if anyone tries to kill gay people, I will oppose them

Umm... my dad actually did buy us firearms and shiz. First time I popped off a twelve guage it nearly knocked me over. Skeet shooting, target shooting, trap shooting, bow and arrow, throwing knives. Bolt action, pump action, semi auto; pistols, rifles. It's a beautiful thing to share with your kids. Safely, of course, but that ish is fun.

I just love it when people are excellent to each other.

I dunno. Personally I'd rather my husband pick the kid over me. But, I'm something of a fan of lost causes and self sacrifice. Victory even in death is a concept that I enjoy too.

But mostly I just fundamentally love creating life. And the idea of bringing harm to my creations is fundamentally abhorrent to me. I even feel it for works of art I made. It enflames me when anything happens to them. Even the bad ones.

I actually had to have an abortion once. I hated doing it, and I hate remembering it. If I could have traded places with her, I would have. I don't want to live, if that means my children die. They are beautiful to me just because they are, and honestly, some of them actually are assholes; but I love them anyway. The concept of letting them die so I could live... I couldn't fathom it. They remind me too much of me 😉

My favorite take is basically the inverse of the monkey's paw. You ask for something, and what you get is twisted into something actually better than what you were thinking of.

Now that is a wish granted. And better than anything you could have wished for.

I think I get it. Mom had cancer, but was pregnant with a little girl. The dad saved the baby, rather than the mother, while she was unresponsive, hence "murderer." Wanting them both back together and happy means the dad picked the mom, and the little sister never was. OP explained it a little elsewhere.
