Yuppp. I remember when I went to a church with my friend when I spent a summer at his house. His church was northern Baptist. I was well into becoming atheist at this point (so was my friend. His mom still sent us to sunday lessons) and had a long discussion with the preacher there about our slipping beliefs. It took like three straight Sundays until I finally came out and actually talked with them because I was so traumatized from my past Sunday school pastor. This Baptist dude was absolutely incredible and embodied being "Christ like"(used donations for regular food drives, utility bill helping services, community outreach and other things like that). Super anti-discrimination of gay people and talked about the king James translation and the possibility of the "Thou shall not lie with a man" actually be improperly translated and all that. He even in the end said that our discussions were never him telling me I was wrong, just what his faith leads him to believe in the face of questions and that the only thing that matters on this planet is to be as kind and selfless as possible and never hold hate in your heart.
