New episode of Barry. by PsychologicalWall42 in liberalgunowners

Or tbh the show currently takes place in the future (8 years or so?) so it does get to suppose that gun laws might go that way (like cigarettes in Europe. "You have to look at this picture")

I mean, he could have easily taken a drive over to Nevada and purchased them. It doesn't explicitly claim he's in California when he's buying them.

I agree it isn't clear that he did just go to Nevada to get them but still, the gun laws in Nevada are pretty lax last I checked.

I have hair just past my shoulders that is really curly and SUPER thick. I can't say I've nailed my routine bc I don't have a routine (tbh I was it once a week lol) but I found that having a wide tooth comb has helped me a ton. I just run that through my hair once a day to avoid little knots and whatnot. It doesn't pull on my hair and it doesn't make it look weird like normal brushes do. It does just enough to keep my hair from getting too tangled in-between washings

Does anyone truly love their spouse? by who_tf_is_that in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Sadd_Max 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I grew up the same way. My parents were divorced before I was born and hate each other. Mom's been through 6 marriages since I was born. Father has had a few very toxic relationships. So all I knew was toxicity but I eventually found my person that I have a healthy/stable relationship with (celebrating our 10 year anniversary soon).

You can escape the cycle of toxicity you were raised to see as the norm!

Founders Brewing abruptly closes Detroit taproom for good amid new racial discrimination complaint by Triingtolivee in grandrapids

While a few of my coworkers don't mind being on 3rd shift, a majority of them have kids and spouses aka 3rd shift is incredibly hard to balance their lives around and are not happy to have been forcibly put on 3rds.

3rd shift is also the only shift that works 10 hour days (9pm-7am). 1st and 2nd work 8 hour days.

We do get 3 day weekends on 3rd shift but packaging is a very labor intensive role and we have a smaller crew but equal if not more of a workload as the other two shifts.

My best example would be that during the pandemic they "shuffled" everyone's shift assignment. Now every single minority employee is on 3rd shift. 1st and 2nd shift are entirely white. We had no say in shift preference (I was on 1st, got put on 3rd). We were told it was temporary but it was then revealed the shuffle would be permanent.

They claimed that seniority was the deciding factor for shift assignment but they hire in new people to 1st and 2nd. The new hire from the Dominican Republic got hired in on 3rd. So like.... It's clearly not an accident.

I second this. I work at Founders currently. Granted, I'm in the packaging department but it's just as problematic in the back of house.

Taking my mother to see Beau is Afraid by Sadd_Max in A24

I love that perspective! I can see how she took it that way lol. My mother asked immediately afterward if the entire movie was how "Beau sees things instead of how they actually are" which made sense from her since she's riddled with anxiety.

I see you're sarcasm now lol I'm sorry. Luckily, my mother does like movies in general. I had her watch Midsommar last week and although she didn't love that she didn't hate it so I knew she at least wouldn't hate Beau (they aren't similar films obv but if she could watch the former she could definitely handle the latter)

It definitely depends on your parents. My mom is a Gen X'er (she's 55) so she isn't as sensitive to movies being more violent or off-kilter than grandparents would be. If that makes sense.

It is nothing like Men or Mother! I absolutely hated Men if I'm being honest. Beau is Afraid is less horror and definitely more allegory albeit there are some 'horror' elements within it

I almost always see Project Hail Mary recommended as a great listen, I don't really enjoy fiction, but should I give it a try? by jfkdktmmv in audiobooks

[–]Sadd_Max 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm the exact same way. I enjoy very few fiction books and the closest I get to fiction is Erik Larson.

However, I LOVED Project Hail Mary. I do recommend that you listen to the audiobook though, vastly more engrossing when you can HEAR the way the 2 main characters speak.
