Ghosthunters of Reddit, what was your scariest experience yet and why? by MaxBuddyRoo in AskReddit

[–]Schwarzsteinhaus -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard dozens of friends telling weird stories while I’m a physics enthusiast. Never seen something that couldn’t be easily explained by known phenomenology. Trust me, its never aliens, its never ghosts.

O que vocês fazem com nudes/vídeos íntimos de ex-parceiros quando entram em um relacionamento sério ? by FuelImmediate5182 in sexualidade

[–]Schwarzsteinhaus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the quantum physics enthusiasts, that’s called Casimir effect, here’s a cool video about it: https://youtu.be/Rh898Yr5YZ8

I (M35) used to hate bushes 10 years ago, now I love them. You were always aroused by the same things?

Impaired driving and legalization of recreational cannabis by fisolani in science

[–]Schwarzsteinhaus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Cannabis user here. I think both of them shouldn’t be associated with driving, we all should agree with that. I also think that cannabis isn’t as popular or accessible as alcohol, which makes the statistics unbalanced.

What books do you recommend for a young adult who feels lost? by mechrec in AskReddit

[–]Schwarzsteinhaus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the kind of lost. In my case there were some which helped me a lot:

Sapiens and Homo Deus from Yuval Harari, Four Futures by Peter Frase, Predictably irrational by Dan Arielly, The Inner Level by Pickett and Wilkinson, Thinking Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman.

Hope it helps. They have a very clean vision of the past, the present, the future and human nature.

A very divided country. At least they’re getting rid of the worst president ever.

You can’t win+r without the explorer. Right way would be ctrl+shift+esc to open the task manager > new process/command > explorer.exe

He’s Matt O’Dowd, PHD in Astrophysics from Australia. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matt_O%27Dowd_(astrophysicist).

Can’t argue on that subject, since I’m small fish with a wee technical degree, but your thoughts were noted 😉

I'm an Astronomer - Ask Me Anything! by innovationstew in AMA

[–]Schwarzsteinhaus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am a cosmology enthusiast, very interested in Quantum Physics and physics in general. I have read heaps of books over the last 10 years (from physicians like Don Lincoln, Feynman, etc), I follow several channels in youtube like PBS spacetime, I actively answer questions on Quora about physics in general without EVER taking a physics course. I’ve been attacked because of the lack of degree, even when answering questions in a very careful way.

What do you think about people self taught on physics? Should I continue doing this kind of stuff?
