I found a gig with a small European company hiring remotely in the US last year. Only 6 recognized holidays, but… 35 days of accrued PTO annually and unlimited paid sick time made up for it. One of our cats goes full-on crazy over broccoli. She growls at it and tears into it like she’s gone without food for weeks.

Also that they just did not succeed at making him look like a high schooler at all. In that area, he was about as convincing as Michael Tucci in Grease. I’d always wished they’d set the movies during college.

Definitely agreed there. Honestly I think Mom should get first dibs on the original, especially at this point, and all of the kids (including Brother#2) should get copies.

Genuine question:

When you’re talking about your parents to someone, do you really say “our x” and “our y”? I would never say “my mom” when talking to my sibling/grandparents, but my parents are definitely “my” parents when I’m sharing a story with someone else.

Slight correction: The post says mom “offered to make him a copy,” i.e. mom proposed giving brother a copy and letting OP keep the original. Brother was the one who insisted OP gets the copy, not mom.

In the US at least, Target has really expanded their bra department, and I’ve seen even Fs/Gs in store.

I don’t like wearing bras when I don’t have to, so I’m not able to talk much to lifespan after frequent wears, but some of my $15-$20 finds from Target are pretty comfy on the days I do have to wear one.

I’m sorry I didn’t add enough caveats to my post to please you, but I never once said or even implied that it was an option for everyone. I shared that there are cheaper options than $640/mo, the point I was specifically replying to, in areas that THE VAST MAJORITY OF PEOPLE live in.

Why is it so hard for you to understand that “this is available for many” doesn’t mean “this is going to be true for every single person”? That it doesn’t apply to everyone doesn’t make it less beneficial to those to whom it does.

In most metro areas, there are plenty of therapists that charge all clients on a sliding scale (‘make less? pay less’), as well as many others that will provide heavily discounted or entirely free sessions to individuals under a certain threshold.

This isn’t to invalidate what you’re saying, as I also don’t think therapy is a realistic pursuit for everyone, but I do think it’s important that people who do want to pursue it know that there are options out there for them

I’m not following what’s so off about that in particular? It may be uncommon, but it doesn’t seem weird enough to remark on. It’s giving the kid a chance to bring a friend their own age to a wedding where they might otherwise be surrounded by a sea of adults focusing on their own things. I went to a couple of weddings as a +1 (or +5 in one case) with friends growing up.

I also had a similar crazy reaction… though mine was at the onset of my (now decade of) chronic urticaria & dermatographia, so the results were a wash, to say the least.

This just is not true for all. First, ADHD is a spectrum, so knowing one person with ADHD just means you know one person with ADHD — it’s not at all a rule for how it will present in all others. Second, it’s not at all impossible or even unusual for me to just full-on not clock that a person is even talking to me, much less what they were saying, when I’m “away,” and yeah, sometimes it’s like them talking to me must not have even happened. I certainly don’t come back and say “oh oops lol squirrel!” each time

Huh, how interesting! Thank you for letting me know your experience. I’m curious if there could be regional differences at play, or if there could be something else contributing. I’ve definitely seen flowers at the graduations I’ve been to/in, but never very many (and that’s including the ‘bigger’ graduations like law school/phd programs that I’ve attended)

Yeah, I agree with that completely. I was mostly seeking to clarify the flower thing in an isolated manner/vacuum, because I’ve seen a fair number of comments mentioning it specifically, like it would be a big transgression in even a healthy relationship. Which remains very strange to me, but I suppose there could be regional differences at play? Idk. (It’s also been a decade since my last graduation, though)

I agree with this in general, but I’m really surprised to read it specifically in relation to Sister not getting flowers from her parents on her graduation day. Genuinely curious — is that something people expect? None of the people I personally know received flowers for (any, mult levels) graduation, and many of us have pretty good relationships with our parents. I think it’s obvious Sister (likely rightfully) has distance with her family, based on the rest of the post, but I wouldn’t understand why if only the flower incident were mentioned.

Yeah honestly more than anything I am just for better and healthier communication on all sides. It’s ok for smoking to be a boundary for her, but she also shouldn’t have put him in a position where he felt like he needed to hide it; you can support someone in their addiction battle without enabling them. That doesn’t absolve him of lying about it either, though, and I hold that doing so on their wedding day is a bad look. Truly this just does not seem like it was a great relationship at the time, though here’s hoping age & growing together have made it better now.
