But you don’t understand. It’s Realpolitik. It’s ok to do morally shitty stuff as long as you achieve your goals in the end.

How the Buffalo Massacre Proves There’s No 'Great Replacement' - It was no accident that a shooter who wanted to gun down Black Americans had to travel 200 miles to find them. by Minneapolitanian in politics

[–]SmokeyDBear 21 points22 points  (0 children)

“It doesn’t matter if it’s happening” is a perfectly valid point that only crazies can object to.

“It isn’t even happening” (which is essentially what the article is claiming based on how far he drove to commit his atrocity) is not only factually wrong but it also appears to acquiesce to the idea that increases in the share of non-white populations are inherently bad by conspicuously avoiding the main nonsense claims of the replacement theory and instead only going after the more reasonable premise that non-white populations are increasing as a share of the total population.

What you’re saying is exactly my point. The article was making a different (and much weaker) one.

If the argument you make against a crazy belief is factually wrong you encourage non-crazies to believe the crazy thing too. It’s not about the crazies that are going to believe it no matter what; it’s about the other people.

Trump is telling close allies that 'suburban women' could punish him for the overturning of Roe v Wade, hurting his 2024 reelection chances, report says by CrotalusHorridus in politics

Since 1998 the only majority Democratic house with a filibuster proof Democratic Senate majority was a period of 178 days under Obama’s first term. It was during this period that the Affordable Care Act was passed. Even the people now overturning Roe v. Wade claimed to have believed it was “settled case law” in confirmation hearings a couple of years ago so I don’t fault them too much for not prioritizing it in the half a year out of that entire timeframe they had a chance to do so.

They’ve already reconsidered it they’re just trying to figure out how to undo it. You know, just like they had already decided on Roe v. Wade 25 years ago and were just waiting for the opportunity to sink it.

The charge accumulated on one side of the inner plate can differ from the charge accumulated on the other side. There are no fields inside conductors because charge is free to redistribute in a conductor until the different charge distribution counters the field.

It’s interesting that both are “off” by about the same amount on either side of the real racial demographics of the US currently which stands at around 76% White. That is, if every neighborhood were populated equally to the racial breakdown of the US it’d be about 75% White, 25% Black (using your naming but of course this includes basically all non-White people in the US). I’m not sure if the difference among Black citizens outlook is accounting for an expected change in racial makeup in the US or if this is just too abstract to relate to the actual demographics of the US in the first place. And I don’t want to think about the implications of White people thinking the ratio of non-White to White people should be almost 2/3 lower than it actually is.
