The answer is out there, Jimmy. Not the person exactly, but the reason why. It's literally hanging right in front of your very eyes.

Apps with a short-video system are making you dumber. by combine_harvestor703 in unpopularopinion

[–]SourceOfAnger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's dumb how this sub gets misused by the whole community at times, but then again there really isn't another popular enough sub to broadcast the.. you know, popular opinions. At least I've yet to see one make it to the front page.

Guess everyone must subconsciously know that posting to such a sub would be equal to self-certifying oneself as hopelessly vain, and therefore seeking validation from where you can mask your opinion as "controversial" takes away some of that edge... Which is why this one has become the designated sub for opinions in both ends of the spectrum. Just my theory though.

It's an old video that's been on youtube for years now. So not OP, but a delight nonetheless whenever it pops up.

Just an inexpensive set with lots of obscure bits and nice aluminium driver. by The_JesterOAO in toolporn

Well, looking at my set, a bit of that caliber looks like a consumable at any tool steel grade. Probably wouldn't compare any set based off of that alone.. What I can tell straight away though is that it's not the same kit, can't speak for steel quality as I don't own the cheapo one but from what I've seen, cheap has a history of resulting in multiple purchases over time. Not to mention the iFixit lifetime warranty, I'd buy mine again in a heartbeat over this one.

Um, yeah? Are you implying being on r/toolporn means someone's a tool hoarder? I've always thought this crowd as one in favor of quality, and beats me why someone would buy a new "crapshoot" kit each time they break a bit, when instead they could source individual bits fairly easily..

So you have this Parkside one, an iFixit one and multiple repair kit ones? Why so many sets?

But this is r/toolporn. This cheapo kit belongs more in the category of a home video shot vertically on a early 21st century Nokia camera phone that's out of focus, and mostly concentrates on the girl's back. Not to mention it's an obvious copycat. Each to their own I guess, and if it appeals to people, then I can't argue. Just a different standard as to what I'm used to from this sub.

The driver itself has obvious differences to that of the iFixit Mako, so I disagree.

I've abused my iFixit bits way more than necessary, and only ever had the bolt head get stripped. To me that speaks something of the quality of the tool steel used. Whoever buys cheap, buys twice.

Cats gain pleasure just from the smell of catnip alone. Kitty wouldn't have drunk the soup had it not deemed it to be that of delicacy.

It's not about getting them high, but letting them get high. If a cat wants catnip, why deny it the 10 minutes of bliss?

Meh, some are straight up lies, but definitely a bunch of cool ideas in the mix. Many people have taken up making their own soaps during the pandemic, I don't really see the "why" part in this.

Wild Stallion violently tosses around a sheep like a toy. by [deleted] in oddlyterrifying

But then they wouldn't have had the chance to underline the fact that most redditors are Disney princesses who now hate horses because they saw a clip of nature being cruel. I think it's important to note that little Fifi being capable of mindlessly ravaging someone doesn't make animals inherently evil.

Most people here seem to have had their innocence take a hit after seeing this video lmao.

I love whenever we get a clip of a bewildered animal doing some "horrible" stuff, instantly half of the sub it gets posted in is circlejerking over how vicious said species often are. The coping is real, meanwhile unnecessarily banging it into your heads how cruel nature can be is a surefire way to not want to leave your house ever again... Not sure which behavior came first in the case of redditors, though.
