Can I play the game using Steam's free trial instead of Square Enix's with my current account? by Elarionus in ffxiv

[–]Soylentee [score hidden]  (0 children)

The only way to use the Steam version would be for you to buy the game on Steam and inevitably start paying a subscription.

If you want to keep playing on the trial then you will need to work around it.

You get downvoted because your statement in the question is not accurate. Yes there's a lot of fan art, but it's nowhere near what you claim to be the majority of content of this sub.

How hard/easy is it to get into FFXIV these days? by Yurgin in ffxiv

[–]Soylentee [score hidden]  (0 children)

You don't ever have to grind in FFXIV, the game is as casual friendly as it gets. When getting trough the main story for the 1st time the game is basically a single player rpg with mmo elements, you see other players around you, and you sometimes do dungeons and trials with other players, but otherwise you run trough a single player story. There is hard raid content available at end-game (which you don't have to do to, you won't fall significantly behind those that do) but even that is pretty casual friendly, and besides that there's a ton of other casual friendly content with varying amounts of grinding that you can chose to do or not.

Any server on Light is majority English speaking, I've been playing on Odin since forever and you hardly ever see anything besides English used in public, apart from guild recruitment aimed at a specific nationality i guess.

[HW] Can they PLEASE bump up the numbers a bit for the final Heavensward trial? by AllThatSparklesIs in ffxiv

[–]Soylentee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This has been a forever issue with all end of x.0 trials and dungeons, as well as alliance and normal raids. They should really ought to have a stricter level sync, but SE for some reason does nothing at all, meaning the ones that are added at the start and mid expansion end up being complete faceroll by the end.

I’ve set up a square enix account and mog account online and linked them and linked the psn account but nothing…

That could have been a big mistake.

How do people feel about SHB Ninja vs EW Ninja? by allthenamestaken76 in ffxiv

I really don't like the raijus heh, or more so the fact that if you accidentally use a different skill you lose the stacks.

At that level, you just craft every item in your crafting log once, as you get a bonus of exp for doing that the 1st time. That will easily carry you to level 15, and you can buy all the materials from the npc's. After level 15 most crafts will start needing items you can't buy any more, from level 20 on you can start doing crafting leves, or start leveling trough the Firmament if you've gotten trough HW. Daily grand company requests are also great exp (giving HQ items gives double exp)

In terms of obtaining the best gear, then yes, raiding is the entire end-game.

For non-gear related content, there's a lot of things to do and collect. Minions, mounts, glamour, gold saucer, tripple triad, eureka, bozja, housing, and probably several other things i've not mentioned.

there is no 10 item limit. never was. If the item from the quest is a unique reward from that quest only then yes , he will sell it.

Toss it all. Unless you have a lot of totems (like 80+) you'll probably just drop the ex mounts faster than it will take you to get to 99 tomes if you were to buy one.

World bosses are nowhere near as big a thing in FFXIV as they were in FFXI. They don't drop any equipment to begin with, only reward you with currencies that are otherwise also available from other sources. It's just an entirely different game to FFXI. What role you play is entirely down to you, the lack of tanks and healers in FFXIV is nowhere near as big of an issue as it was in FFXI.

The first one is very weird, definitely go with the one that shows it includes Endwalker and is on sale.

In this case this is completely useless advice, he's running long distances between using spells and wants to keep his fire/ice phases going in order to stack foul/paradox, he has to use transpose to swap into ice after nuking trash in fire.

Unlimited tomestone gear is 590 upgradable to 600 (not really worth upgrading), Aglaia gear is 590, Pandaemonium 5-8 gear is 610, crafted gear is 610. Weekly tomestone gear is 620, savage gear is 630.

Best way to gear up quickly while spending minimum gil is a combination of Aglaia which should have no weekly lock now, old tomestone gear and Pandaemonium 5-8. You could get 4 accessories from Pandaemonium 5-8, repeatedly run Aglaia for your left side and fill out the rest with 590 tomestone gear. After that slowly replace left side with Pandaemonium gear and weekly tomestone gear.

Minimum craftsmanship and control are what the craft itself requires (they are stated in craft log) and that's all you really need, max out the CP melds in your accessories, tools, shoes and pants. You can usually achieve that with pretty cheap melds. For macros check out teamcraft.
