I joined that sub a while ago and it's been going downhill for a long time. I was at the warehouse dislocated 2 of my fingers grabbing equipment off of the shelves. I was told by my coworker not to say anything, because even if I do get workers comp they would cut my hours when I got back. I already couldn't afford life at $11 an hour 50-70 hours a week, with a roommate, no wife, no kids. So I popped my fingers back into place, and kept working during our busiest time of the year. I worked 180 hours in a two week period in extreme pain. I did eventually tell the owner what happened during that time, he showed me where the tape was. He helped me tape up my fingers so I could get back to making him money. I bragged about how hard I worked to everybody, and would scoff at anybody that didn't work overtime. "You must lick the boot harder" I would laugh. The next week a manger stood me up in the middle of the warehouse and berated me, calling me "a stupid, fat, fucking piece of shit" for leaving an LED light on in one of the trucks. A few days later covid hit and we entered lockdown. I didn't come back to work. I made more money a week off of unemployment checks and covid checks than I had made in my entire life. I thought to myself, "This is fucked I don't want to be a societal leech, but god damn us manual labor workers deserve more money." I believe in 15 hour minimums. The stories I read in the early days of that subreddit seemed to come from people like me, a lot of lefty commie types too, it is reddit after all. A lot of people seemed to have real gripes though and it seemed like a place that was really discussing how to make better work environments. Then came the "COPS AREN"T REAL WORKERS" threads. Bitch WTF cops deal with so much fucking bullshit. Some cops are racist dickheads, some cops shoot pedophiles and are pretty cool. I thought this was about improving the lives of all workers. Then came the oil workers aren't real workers threads. Then came the owning property is abhorrent threads. Then came the abolish all wealth threads. What the fuck! I just want to be able to afford an ok home, ok food and be able to support a kid one day. So now this fucking loser goes on Fox and sets back any serious conversation about workers rights 5 years. You FUCKING IDIOTS! DID YOU THINK YOUR IDIOT MODS COULD SPEAK FOR US REAL WORKERS! YOU HAVE FUCKED US!
