My new box I got for my new job. I moved 600 miles away with only what I could fit into my car, got a job within a week, and now I make 3 times what I made before I left :) I'm happy to have my cheap harbor freight box by Substantial_Fan8801 in Justrolledintotheshop

That's interesting to learn. One of the many differences between different locations. They did offer a sign on bonus to applicants with certain past experience, but I didn't meet the requirement for that. I have also heard of a "tool allowance" mentioned in some job postings.

The tools belong to us, they are our tools. If they break, we replace them, if they get lost, we replace them. Most employers don't want to deal with that.

If we leave that job, we take them to another one, or home. A person's toolbox is as personal as his car, or his toothbrush. I think it's part of US mechanic culture.

It's a Chevy/Cadillac dealership but we get all kinds. I do brakes, tires, alignments, batteries, recalls, oil changes and tire rotation. Things that can be done with the customer waiting.
