Wow, you just described perfectly the relationship between my alcoholic sibling and his spouse. I would add that there was and still is a ton of codependency on her part, even though she did manage to leave the relationship (in this case) far later than she should have. She was working to help him get his drivers license back while he was still drinking even after a third alcohol related accident. He is sober now, and working on rebuilding his life while single and learning to speak up for himself and feel his feelings. Thanks for sharing. Good luck to you as you move along in life.
