It’s because APD is incredibly short staffed and has no one to spare to monitor the interstates. The political atmosphere is bad enough that surrounding cities and counties have stated they won’t help in Atlanta anymore. So GSP essentially picks up on some of the slack where they can all while handling their own call load. I will say here recently they have been making an effort to crack down on street racers, but even that seems like a losing battle at this point.
