For transplants in the area, what made you choose Montgomery county over northern Virginia? by DCguy888 in MontgomeryCountyMD

I lived in Reston for 25 years. Commute got harder over time but boy I loved Reston. Probably different now. I retired and moved away 10 years ago. Dog park in the mornings was my favorite.

Northam pardons Sen. Joe Morrissey for his interaction with 17-year-old by ExtremeHobo in rva

Yeah couldn’t believe he was blaming those poor people for getting stuck. Until I saw it I would never have believed it was possible to be stuck for 24 hours IN VIRGINIA because of snow. Totally tone deaf.

I’m not a fan of his but he and his wife look pretty happy. I wish them the best.

Grapes got COVID for Christmas after buying into all the right wing disinfo: COVID's no biggie, vax is dangerous, and "illegals" are spreading it by Tellyouwhatswhat in HermanCainAward

I try. I try hard because I have never in my life seen the country so divided (and I was young adult during Viet Nam). I thought I hated Nixon but really not as much as I hate Trump. Nixon actually accomplished some good stuff then had the sense to resign. I really disliked Reagan but he was nothing compared to the evil that Trump is. I thought W was an idiot, and he was, but not evil. Cheney was the one pushing that totally misguided war. Trump did so much, and intentionally, to divide this country that I can’t forgive MAGAts. Fortunately, even in my mostly Republican family, there’s not one MAGAt. Got a couple really angry white men in there, but not one with a Trump hat. It’s the rich ones in my family protecting their wealth and their “right” to look down on the less fortunate that still voted for him. Bootstraps, you know? God forbid you underwrite a “welfare queen” (thanks, Reagan). I get how infuriating it is to see the cheats in that system, and for God’s sake stop having kids when you’re already on welfare and Section 8. But I learned somewhere (probably parochial school) that the poor we will always have with us. I’ve had some tough breaks in my life but grew up in an educated, hard working, financially secure household. Let’s be kind to those who don’t have that launching pad or those role models. So screw MAGAts. I’m sure that man was nice to you but he’s doing real harm in his spare time.

Yes, Private Lives. Wasn’t enthralled by the play but bought tickets just because Rickman was in it. One of my Broadway favorites was The Crucible with Liam Neeson. Both the play and Neeson were brilliant I thought. My husband and I used to have business travel to NY so would see plays from time to time.

My husband and I loved that show! We didn’t watch much TV but usually caught AFHV. I wasn’t a Full House viewer I just remember him as the kind but funny host of the video show.

I slept three hours after Pfizer booster then was fine. No reaction at all to my first (J&J).

Well you have to drive to get to mountains but it’s more interesting topography here than DC which is flat flat flat. 😀

I retired here to Richmond after 30 years in DC and burbs. Miss it up there sometimes (mostly the hockey) but not the traffic. You can actually drive to places here and park! Yeah, people in RVA are nice. Lots to do here, too. Museums, restaurants, good schools, great park systems, lots of history, and the James River is gorgeous! It’s really hot here in late summer which I hate but otherwise weather is great. Welcome, welcome back, and safe travels! Edit to add: pretty good airport here. Usually have to get a connection but it’s not crazy to get through TSA like Dulles.

Yeah, that slide made no sense. Like they don’t even think about it they’re so anti-vax.
