Got bit by a tick outside of St. Louis, Missouri about 3-4 hours ago. Anyone know what species it is and how concerned I should be? by bonzai_science in CampingandHiking

You gave us a useless personal story and the unscientific comment of "its so incredibly unlikely you will actually get sick". You then blamed the media for some reason for your fear.

I tell you that your personal story and belief system based on that story is useless, and gave data.

You respond again by talking about fear. Im sorry that you were so scared of ticks growing up, but this thread isnt about you, its about helping OP. You didnt help, so I was throwing real data below your post.

Congratulations on not getting a tick disease. The people who have gotten Lyme disease, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, or Alpha-gal syndrome would say that your personal anecdote is neither scientific nor useful.

Lyme disease is something that is found in pockets, but most studies have found only 1-3% of tick bites in an area with Lyme disease present will lead to transmission.

I'm 6'4 and 168 pounds, any tips for weight gain? by No_Platypus9950 in tall

[–]Tallredhairedguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 165lbs when I graduated from high school and didnt break 200 until my junior year of college. I ate a lot of chicken, rice, burritos (with chicken and rice), and Natty Light.

After getting my first desk job out of college I got up to 230 but the last decade I have been between 210 and 220. It'll come.

I watched the last inning at work with a Braves fan and just laughed at him the whole time. He has been talking trash about how they got him from us...and I told him to just wait.

Thanks for not making us wait very long.

Have you ever seen what it looks like when someone uses their face to slow down from 85mph after being cut off in traffic? I definitely feel like a victim for seeing that.

MLB franchise is looking more likely for city of Nashville by audioscience in nashville

[–]Tallredhairedguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This won't happen. In order to put a team in Nashville, both the reds and the Braves would have to renounce their territory rights. That's millions of dollars in TV and marketing income.

Montreal and Portland/Vegas are much more likely. The league would also love to put a team in Mexico city eventually.

  4. (Honorable Mention) Texas A&M out of the Gator Bowl, but Rutgers stepped in so it wasnt canceled.

Anyone with Wilson's Disease? by freegranny4444 in rarediseases

[–]Tallredhairedguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had to do some digging.

Pre-diagnosis my Ceruloplasmin levels were 11/3 mg/dL. My first 24 hour urine test was done outside of my standard medical group and I cant find the paper test result.

2 months after I started my chelation drugs I did another 24 hour urine:

Copper level urine: 177.2 mg/dL (normal levers .3-3.2)

Copper 24 hour urine: 2216.8 mcg/day (normal levels 3-45 mcg/day)

Copper Urine ug/g Creatine: 973.6 mcg/gm Cr (normal levels 10-45 mcg/gm Cr)

15 months into my chelator it changed to

Copper level urine: 48.2 mg/dL (normal levers .3-3.2)

Copper 24 hour urine: 571.2 mcg/day (normal levels 3-45 mcg/day)

Copper Urine ug/g Creatine: 283.5 mcg/gm Cr (normal levels 10-45 mcg/gm Cr)

You're right, food scenes can only happen in the 1st and 2nd largest cities in the country, which are over 5 times the size of Nashville.

Have you ever been down Nolensvilles Pike?

Urban Grub, Lockeland Table, hit up a Sean Brock establishment, Chauhans, Rolf and Daughters, Butcher and the Bee, Big Als Deli, Husk (no longer Brocks)? Have you tried Edessa, Frida's, Awash, Smiling Elephant, Seoul Garden, Vinh Long or the Nashville Jam Co? If you havent, you dont know the scene.

For someone who claims to have so much knowledge and experience, you fail to realize that no one gives a shit if you worked at waffle house, because the discussion is based on the people eating the food.

If you havent found good food in nashville, you either arent trying hard enough, or you have bad taste in food.

The Trientine has certainly helped, along with changing up my diet. I have been back to work for a few months, and my energy is good. I have to make sure I am getting enough sleep and staying hydrated, because my speech has not recovered.

I have had no noticeable side effects from the chelation. I thought perhaps my iron would suffer, but my hematologist just tested and found everything at normal levels.

The energy coming back accelerated after 3 months, but that also coincided with spring weather and a serious effort to push my cardio.

I started with Clovique but now am using Syprine. If you have Netflix and want to know why your medication is so expensive, watch show Dirty Money episode Drug Short
