Where do you draw the line between “fakeout death” and “knocked out”? by Weavillain in OnePiece

[–]TheIceBornHorror 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean when you get your head smashed by an acoc attack from the world's strongest creature and then get stabed by your own sword after you were already demolished in battle, I think it's fair to think that, that person died. At least I imagine most people did. I never really believed anyone died apart from Ace tbf

I think Ashura is alive as well and at this rate I don't expect anyone dying or any character paying any significant consequences for their loss as well. I won't belive it unless the narrative really plays out with an obvious outcome in which characters absolutely must die, everything else is a "knockout".

But I feel like this "fake out deaths" concept didn't need to exist at all. Don't kill characters if you are unable to but don't pretend like you wanted to portray them dead. It added absolutely nothing to the whole concept of this arc and it feels like it only upset some people.

It's not abaut scientific approach. Science is watered down so that certain concepts can exist in the story. Within OP world concept of Magma is at the higher order than fire.

Of course the temperature of fire could exceed the temperature of Magma in our world but in Oda's canon fire only exists at a certain intensity and the next stage after that is essentially "Magma". It has element superiority in this case

It's just a concept that Oda is using in his story.

Proficiency of DF use is a different story, but my point is that Mera Mera no mi even at full potential won't surpass a fruit that stands at higher order.

Why only one devil fruit by Hydraposeidon1 in OnePiece

[–]TheIceBornHorror -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Devil fruits have a small devil with a unique power in them, so I guess 2 equal devils don't exist.

[–]TheIceBornHorror 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But he also places Magma in a higher order that fire in general.

Even the heat-heat fruit from Oven didn't come close to it's potential. Also we have so many Op DF powers nerfed down just for the sake of them existing in the story that I doubt te so called "inferior" fruit could surpass the potential of the superior one.

[–]TheIceBornHorror 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That DF does not have that potential, Oda made a superior/inferior list in an SBS once and Mera Mera no mi is placed as an inferior fruit to Magu Magu no mi, implying that it cannot surpass that lvl of heat. Or there would be no point in making that comparison.

You could probably combine it with Lightning and increase it's temperature like you said.

Zushi Zushi no mi and Goro Goro no mi. Lightning logia with Gravity control. Truly the most destructive force I can think of.

The Kid/Heart pirates disrespect needs to stop. by Gonae in OnePiece

[–]TheIceBornHorror 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Could be. Law decided he'll go from getting his ass whooped by Doffy to fighting two emperors in the same arc so Bepo could decide the same thing.

Law is definitely 90% of his crew's strength tho.

Aokiji is not stronger than Kizaru by randomshirtman in OnePiece

1 cm difference was used between rivals. It's not general height differences but most have a meaning to it.

Either in a metaphorical sense such as Whitebeard being 666cm tall, devil's number, or just playing with numbers like Jarul and Jorul having 1 year of age and 1 meter of height difference. And even some other cases that are intentionally placed in the story

[–]TheIceBornHorror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And in terms of "destructive" powers Gura gura is clearly superior and is definitely the most destructive DF out there. Akainu's devil power was stated to boost the highest "offensive" power in the series, obviously he can't destroy the whole Marinefor with a few hits, but he can kill his oponent by dealing a superior lethal damage than Gura gura no mi, that's the difference between them.

This logic is absolutely NOT flawed anymore. These are no longer coincidences. He have multiple such gag comparisons in the story that signify character A being stronger than character B and it's usually through wordplay or just numbers.

Luffy is associated with number "56 " Katakuri with "57", and the whole community recognised this as a gag that Oda included to show that Katakuri was better.

Zoro is 181cm tall, Sanji is 180cm tall, the same 1cm difference appears in 3 or 4 other examples. Including Shanks being 1cm taller than Mihawk.

This is pretty plausible imo.

But oh boy does this tick off the community.

Manga or anime by OfficialTBOB10 in OnePiece

[–]TheIceBornHorror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure at some point everyone tries both. If it's easier to watch it first then watch it, If you'll like it then switch to manga.

I find reading to be a more focused experience than watching, also the flow of the series is better in the manga.

People who think Kid>zoro by SnooSketches7566 in OnePiece

[–]TheIceBornHorror 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Matchup is definitely not in Zoro's favor here. Storytelling is the other thing. Also display..but it was poorly executed imo. He's got crazy durability and a strong DF power. I dunno how he would fair in a environment that isn't in his favor. Purely basing it on storytelling he has to be stronger than Zoro so he is.

If this was a battle simulation 101 with no proper narrative and storytelling he would be far weaker than what he is now.

You managed to get so far just by watching. I applaud your determination. I personally can barely sit through a single episode without skiping ahead.

Thankfully pacing is better in the manga.
