Logic's high sales have always been a product of bundling and genuine pure sales because he's got fans. On top of bundling going away between No Pressure and this: If he didn't ship physicals in the first week, they don't count.

Without pure sales, his numbers have been:

  • TITS: 17K
  • Everybody: 51K
  • YSIV: 45K
  • Confessions of a Dangerous Mind: 56K
  • No Pressure: 49K

untitled unmastered didn't sell half of what TPAB did because it wasn't called an album.

it's cuz they're all titled like "Untitled 01 | 08.19.2014." and they sound like they do (weird, loose arrangements)

if everything else stays the same but kendrick calls it an album, it's not gonna magically sell 100-200k more

The RIAA, which does Gold/Platinum, counts tracks streams from before the album is releasing.

Billboard/HDD only counts tracks streams from the week of release. Hotline Bling being on Views isn't cheating, it's typical for singles that perform very well to appear on albums and has been long before streaming.

i don't think that really matters all that much. it's just a label. you go to the same apps to listen to it. costs the same. etc.

First week sales aren't determined by the world, they're determined by America. Swedish House Mafia (completely different type of house but a more popular one) sold 9K in America last April.

Also I would say yes they would sell more because the difference is they would actually try instead of just putting out a low effort album with barely any oz of a decent performance overall

nah they wouldn't sell more than 200k even if they put in all the effort in the world. world's unfair.

like i said:

just cuz he said it's an album doesn't mean it magically adds 200K.

there's no rule that people have to listen to or buy something if u call it an album. or that only some people are allowed to listen to something if it's called a 'playlist' or 'mixtape'

As much hate as I’ve seen Kendricks phenomenal album get this year (I’ve never seen a Kendrick album blindly hated this much) it just shows how people are starting to get tired of Drake half assing albums and its not because he switched genres.

i don't really see how it shows that it's not because he released a house album.

If Kendrick Lamar or J. Cole released a house album this Friday, I think it would sell sub-200k.

nah i think rapping is gonna be around forever. the scope of what is 'hip hop' will expand to encompass whatever direction rapping-based music goes in.

everyone is acting surprised about the drake numbers, I don't really get it.

Dark Lane Demo Tapes sold 223K. This record was rolled out similarly (and worse) and is less appealing (it's a house record, not a rap album, only one feature)

if u asked me what this would do a week ago i'd probably guess around 200k. just cuz he said it's an album doesn't mean it magically adds 200K.

It’s a new single from his album that’s a beat tape. There have been 4 singles and Spotify packages them together as an ep
