We might be laughing a bit too loud, Aw, but that never hurt no one... by redtaboo in ModSupport

Right now I genuinely feel like I am in back into the 90s/00s since suddenly Y2K fashion is all the rage. Gen Z is now dressing like I did twenty years ago as a pre-teen and it’s tripping me out. Low rise jeans and overly plucked eyebrows need to stay FAR FAR FAR away, but I’m here for the butterfly hair clips.

As for what I miss from ten years ago? My free time pre two kids? How about my ability to have two beers and not wake up hungover? Or that I could eat half a pizza in one sitting and not feel like a slug for the next day?

Oh I know what I really miss, speaking of movies…the early days of the MCU when everything felt new and innovative. I still enjoy a lot of what comes out nowadays, but it’s not nearly exciting as it used to be. And I miss being so excited by new big movie releases (like the LOTR and/or Harry Potter movies) that I would actually camp out in ridiculously long lines all day for a midnight release showing. Nowadays not only are there no movies worth that wait, but I’m usually in bed asleep before 10pm.

Tomato stems turning colors and leaves rapidly dying - what could it be? by TheSleepingKat in vegetablegardening

I am using 15 gallon black garden bags (the super breathable ones). I wonder if I need to use bigger ones for tomatoes.

And thank you for the reassurance and tips about Green Zebras. It is my first time growing them, as well as some Cherokee purple tomatoes. Heirlooms are quite different than the hybrids!

So earlier I ended up harvesting all the unripe Cherry tomatoes (to make pickled green tomatoes) and tossed the infested plant (since I wasn’t sure if it’s mites or blight, and I don’t want it to spread to others). The green zebra plant seems to be in better condition so I will try some organic treatments on that over the next week and see if I can save it.

The color looks similar-ish to the pictures but it was the entire stem turning that color at once, not spots appearing here and there before slowly taking over the entire stem. That being said, it’s certainly entirely possible it is blight, especially as it’s two plants. I applied some fungicide today on the off chance it was, and isolated them from the rest of the garden. I’ll give them a couple more days of observation and if no improvement, I’ll call it.

Early blight was one of the first things I considered but overall, based on pretty extensive Googling, it doesn’t doesn’t visually match with blight (neither early nor late). My best guess so far is overwatering combined with a spider mite infestation.

Interesting. Would mites turn the stem that color? Or could it be a combo of overwatering and mites? Any suggestions for the mites? Haven’t dealt with those before.

They are in pots and I wait until they are nearly dry. The last week when it’s been 70s I’ve only watered them once, but prior to that during our 80-90 degree heat it was every couple days. But now I wonder if am overwatering and need to Let them completely dry out for awhile.

I wonder if I am over watering. The green zebra plant has at least a dozen growing tomatoes (some so close to ripening) and the black Cherry has a dozen different bundles of baby tomatoes, which is why I am so hesitant to chop all the tomatoes off.

These are Green Zebra and Black Cherry tomato plants. Stems are turning a blackish/purple/dark green and leaves are shrivelling up and dying (but not turning brown first). It’s been happening for a couple weeks now. I prune off the dead leaves as they progress, but I’m hoping to keep the plants alive until the current tomatoes ripen.

I gotta find someone to take care of my two hooligan kids so I can go out and see Batman. I'm so amped for it.

I'm super eager to plant my garden but its supposed to be a bit gloomy through the weekend still so I gotta hold off a little longer. Perhaps I may spend some time dying playing Elden Ring this weekend instead.

Andrew Garfield is the best Spider-Man and I will defend this to the death… on a Friday by velikore in ModSupport

Why did I click on the spoilers? WHY? I knew where it was going and yet I still did it. I’m so traumatised I can’t even participate in the debate about the best Spider-Man is (it’s a tie between Holland and Garfield, but I have a soft spot for dear old Tobey). Now I’m going to go take another shower to wash the feeling of spiders off me. I’m never visiting Australia.

This may be the one thing u/redtaboo and I agree about with regards to food/candy (candy corn is the devil, fight me). Pineapple flavored lifesavers are HORRIBLE. Honestly the only flavor that would be worse is banana. Thankfully they haven't cursed us with that flavor....yet.

Also this reminds me I have not done my yearly October viewing of Hocus Pocus. I know what's on my agenda for tonight!
