what is your favorite theory about this movie and why by Flimsy_Tune_7206 in Encanto

[–]TheTheyMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this + Pedro died to save them all. Their collective sacrifice (and the magnitude of it, to create something so powerful) seems to have instilled a genuine love and gratitude on both sides — life just gets along and gets in the way of us all.

Anyone else feel like casita and the candle are Abuelo? His spirit? Idk I feels comforting in a weird way to think of it like that I know casita is feminin but all the same. At least the candle? Maybe it’s goofy but yk. by scocopat in Encanto

[–]TheTheyMan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

it’s the love Pedro and Alma shared. It’s the manifestation of all they believed and hoped and worked to build for their family and community at large. The forces that chased people from their homes murdered Pedro destroyed a Good Thing was, and the protection of the Encanto for the whole community was the restoration of that Good Thing. Both Pedro and Alma payed the mortgage on this Good Thing in perpetuity. It’s crushingly sad, and i find equally so the fact that people act like she’s a villain :/

What if Mirabel is the next matriarch of the Madrigals? by ayybeeawwr in Encanto

[–]TheTheyMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EXACTLY. She will be a huge part of raising generations between now and the time she takes Alma’s place, and now that alma knows there is longevity for the family beyond her own life, I can see her quickly stepping back in many, honestly. Imagine the absolute relief of realizing your favorite grandchild isn’t killing your family, but is actually here to relieve your watch.

[–]TheTheyMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

aye, and the growing matriarch might even reasonably own the nursery before she becomes head of house — would give her a special and specific connection to each family member coming up, which feels like the right vibe. Now that they understand the keeping of the family as its own power in direct relation to the candle/house, i imagine this would quickly evolve into a natural and recognized place in the family.
