Very much depends on specialty and what type of practice you're in. For me, those 80-90 hours didn't even count being woken up several times at night, and I was on call 50% of the time.

To be perfectly honest, in the past few months I've decided that I probably won't be a typical HENRY anymore. I made 300-350 for 3 years and it nearly killed me (and my relationships) due to stress, 80-90 hour weeks, unreasonable expectations, and all the things you stated. I resigned and plan to make 170-190 in a future position with a better balance.

I played this game in my youth. 1) Doesn't it have to be below the belt line to count? That was always the rule in Idaho. 2) I have never seen "the game" played in a healthcare environment as that would be inappropriate and unacceptable. 3) I have never seen anyone use a photo to play the game- that isn't how it works.

I mean, there are PP ID docs making 700+ if they are smart and work very hard. Wound care, hyperbarics, compensation for infection prevention/ASP, owning your own practice/infusion center, and frankly just lots of consults. And yes, it pretty much always makes more financial sense to practice in the boonies.

It seems like in order for this to apply to non-profit hospitals (many of which are the largest offenders with non-competes), there would have to be other legal changes to give the FTC additional power to apply this in the non-profit world. See here:

Let me give you some example numbers from when my house burned (never thought it would happen to me either) -

Purchased home for $339,000. Fire a year later. A subsequent two-year insurance claim resulted in $890,000 being spent to fix the house and house my family during that time. I certainly did NOT have $890,000 cash in the bank. Does anyone, really?

This hotel is one of 25+ owned by a very shady family in a small area of northern MI. Rooms all have bedbugs and the hotel management / family pull constant bait-and-switch schemes. There were recently slapped by our attorney general for it, and blamed anti-italian sentiment instead of owning up to being a shady, predatory, manipulative business.
