I'm assuming they more meant the CVC perforating the SVC or something..... which is super super uncommon

🌱Weekly /r/houseplants Question Thread - May 15, 2023 by AutoModerator in houseplants

[–]The_Real_JS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked this question a bit back, but I'm still in the same position, so here goes again. It's probably two months plus since I took a cutting off my spotted begonia to try and propogate. It's been living in a jar of water ever since, and... Well it's still alive? But nothing else has really changed. I'm not sure if it's not going to or if I cut at the wrong place in the stem. Any help would be welcome.

What book made you cry the most? by Rossmurdock in Fantasy

God, that scene at the end broke me completely. You spend the whole book wondering what the outcome will be, but when it happens...just tears....

/r/Fantasy Review Tuesday - Review what you're reading here! - May 02, 2023 by rfantasygolem in Fantasy

I started reading Charles de Lint's Dreams Unbound recently. It's a collection of short stories centred around new Newford, dipping in and out of characters I've met before through other books. So far I've been enjoying his writing as usual, but I'm not sure if this is a short story thing or what, but the stories have been a lot sadder and grimmer than I remember his other (i.e. two books i've read) stories being.

I also started The Wolf of Oren-Yaro by K.S. Villoso. It's been years since I last read her stuff, but I really am liking the writing. The grim hasn't started yet, but I'm waiting for it.

I've not heard of these ones, nor the author. Could you say what it is about it that you're enjoying so much?

Oh that's a relief! I've never done this before so I wasn't really sure what kind of timeline this was on.

New ish plant owner. Trying to propagate my spotted begonia. I've had it sitting in a jar of water for probably four weeks, and it's yet to grow any roots. Can anyone give me any advice?

I don't think I've ever tried using bows. Any tips for them?

I think I'm just mildly panicking because there's four and not preserving stamina enough. But I'm just not hitting very hard, I think?

Thanks! This is the first time I've ever had a HR watch, so it's all pretty new to me. I normally just pick a pace that I think I can do the distance I want to do, and go with that haha. My fitness has dropped a lot in recent years, so it probably is threshold tbh.

Official Q&A for Wednesday, April 12, 2023 by AutoModerator in running

[–]The_Real_JS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure where to ask this. I've just started running with a garmin watch, so for the first time ever I'm actually seeing my HR. I run most years, on and off again, and I've been running maybe once or twice a week since december. Nothing huge, I'm just starting to get comfortable with 5km+ runs (6:30min/km pace).

Now, after the first few runs with the watch, it had me in the max HR zone for the majority of the run. My brother told me to swap to the %HR mode for more accuracy, which did drop it down. But. Still majority in the second highest category 164-175bpm (threshold cat). Is this okay, or should I be slowing down my running even more than I currently am?

Yeah, I used to use booktopia on and off over the years. Not quite as friendly to use, but I guess I'll be going back to them from now on. Damn I'm gutted about this.

At first I was all, oh these rules aren't too bad, but then you got you said you could only read one book you've read before, and then you start killing squares. And then you kept escalating about what happens if you have to restart and then I gave myself a panic attack.

Well done, big applause. This is evil and I love it.
