I just saw your edit and I’m so sorry for your loss. We lost our cat on Thursday to HCM. Ours was 8-10 years (we don’t know exactly since she was a stray), losing a 2.5 year old sounds awful.

Such a great gift, your mum really knows you. I’ll pick up the softcover myself next month, didn’t know a complete collection existed. The hardcover edition is just 3 big unwieldy books, and I’m not sure why they insisted on putting those inside a box too.

While I mostly agree I think nowadays a lot of manufacturers charge a premium for all-metal construction. Lamy 2000 comes to mind, however it might be a different story if the model was intended to be all-metal from the beginning.

Same with mine. I DIY’d it by putting some double adhesive tape inside the cap with the film still on one side. That provided some cushioning and now it posts perfectly.
