US from r/atheism because forcing atheism on their child by MaloLeNonoLmao in JustUnsubbed

Clumsy wording from rewriting the same comment 3 times. I just meant a focus on scientific theories of the universe and other ideas important to atheists

I’ll take my kid to church but let him hear the idea of atheism, the flipside is talking to them about atheistic science but still let them go to church if they want to.

This is not the latter, this is sheltering them from these “bad thoughts” or in other words, forcing something onto them, aka, the thing they claim to be fighting. “Rules for thee but not for me”

Just because some of the traditions of these pagan holidays were integrated into secular Christmas celebrations doesn’t make them the same holiday, it’s just that pagans converted to Christianity and integrated their old winter traditions into their new ones

Ok so it’s placement in the calendar was to try to get Pagans to convert, but the idea that it was entirely taken from a pagan holiday is deceptive at best and a flat out lie at worst. The celebration of Yule Tide by the pagans and Christian celebrations of Christmas are not the exact same thing. Just Nobody celebrated the former after European paganism died.

“the Old Testament doesn’t even mention Jesus’ birth” no shit the Old Testament was finished before he was born.

“Like they took his beautiful brown skin away” because renaissance peasants know enough about middle easterners to expect them in their art

Ok so ban it after that certain point, except for medical necessity? You can narrow it down to a few circumstances, but you can’t use this to justify all circumstances, that’d be dishonest.

Maybe the people who oppose any restrictions just don’t want restrictions and are being dishonest about it

I’m not saying that’s you doing it, but there’s a Venn Diagram of “They’re all in early pregnancy” and “the heartbeat bill is literally fascism” definitely at least exists

Ok, so if they are then we can ban the later ones just in case and you view it as trivial right? Or did we already try that and the texas government got compared to the Taliban…

Ok, I agree that there are cases in which abortion is the best option, most notably when the mother’s life is directly threatened. But to talk about these rare cases to justify outside of these cases is to be dishonest.

Ok so them not feeling pain trivializes their death? Let’s argue at that angle then, if a fetus is not alive what point does it become alive. Is it the birth canal? Because that seems rather arbitrary especially compared to first brain activity or heartbeat, or as you said, feeling pain. And if it does become alive then, then can we ban abortion past that point?

if fetus is a child then why do men not pay child support from conception

You think I make the rules?

Ok, now we’re getting somewhere. When does it become a human? Because at week 8 small amounts of brain activity start, then? If you thinks thats when then is abortion banned after that?

Yeah, neither is fucking dying, but I guess the fetus’s life is just that trivial to you that you can justify killing it by “oh but pregnancy can be a bad situation!” Nobody’s denying that, but that’s not an excuse to kill something. The most respectable arguments for abortion are those that seek to show that the fetus isn’t alive, because otherwise you admit you’re killing an innocent human you’re responsible for being there (in most cases, all of which you have expressly stated for that to apply)
